How Kindness Can Bring Back Magic Into Your Life

Imagine the great human potential as a vast library full of books about every topic and discipline. Kindness would be a whole aisle in that library with books we can pick up, read and learn a great deal from. I would name that section ‘Magic & Healing’. We have all experienced acts of kindness throughout our lives as both receivers and givers. We also had glimpses of the magic that is created around an act of kindness and the possibilities that open up before us. But alas we are forgetful creatures and partially blind to the subtle but powerful energies surrounding us.
Kindness is not just about being helpful and understanding towards others. It is about softening the hard shell of our external world so that spirit can flow through easier. It is a spiritual primer. Unfortunately we do not use it often and we do not use it wisely. The potential is certainly there, available anytime to tap into.
This is some of the magic that kindness can manifest in your life:
- Summon the power of love to flow through your life
- Make your relationships happier and healthier
- Cultivate compassion towards others and attract compassion from others
- Greater awareness of the greater good and your true purpose
- Make people feel better who in turn will respond better to any given situation
- Spiritual growth and maturity
- Receive kindness back
- Make your life less stressful
- Inspires others to spread kindness
Kindness is a virtue – and one which we seldom see happening around us. Humans have become too disconnected, distracted and impersonal. The human touch has lost its touch. A funny video can go viral on the net in hours and minutes but an act of kindness is witnessed, perhaps appreciated but rarely paid forward. It is ever more rare because we have drifted further away from our authenticity. This is the predicament of modern man that so many philosophers, intellectuals and bleeding hearts have been telling us about for years.
Kindness emerges from our inner authentic creative centres which is grounded in openness of heart, mind and free consciousness. Yes you can be ‘kind’ in your language or manners to the person sitting next to you on the bus or the till lady at the store or whoever. But this is kindness coming out of social habit, fear and convention rather than from your authentic and spontaneous inner creativity.
Kindness that emerges out of our true selves is not vested in self-interest, limited by social expectations or requires effort and self-discipline to create. It comes because our heart has let go of attachments and expectations. We are not concerned primarily about our livelihood, money, achievements or anything else.
Here is an example of an act of kindness coming from our inner source of creativity:
- Give hope and bring joy to others through encouragement and motivation
- Show deep understanding to people’s situations and suffering
- Listen hard when people talk without letting our ego step into the way
- Share and give without thinking about your scarcity or your problems
On the other hand, these are examples of acts of kindness that are more of a reaction to a given situation or as part of a social template on how we should behave:
- Hastily throwing money at a street beggar without engaging or even bothering to look in the eyes
- Being nice and receptive to co-workers because you feel you have something to gain out of this
- Doing someone a favour with the great expectation of having the favour returned.
When we act selflessly, or live from a state of consciousness where we are naturally selfless, we allow our spirit to flow through us naturally. When our spirit is flowing through us naturally, everything we touch becomes magic. Life has a new feel, and we feel much more connected to the universe when our vibration is that of service and love.
If you are bored with life or feel like it doesn’t have that same magical feel it use to have, try implementing more kindness into your daily routine. Perform some kind actions without any expectations of receiving anything in return, and you just might get what you are looking for.
