Healthy or Not? Time Travel to your Future to See

No one wakes up one day and actually says, “What I want in my life as I age is disease, obesity, difficulty moving, terrible sleep and high medical bills.” But not wanting that doesn’t necessarily mean that you are continuously saying, “I want vibrant health, a body that fits me and my life, energy, peaceful nights and no chronic needs that require doctors…” either.

Too many people are moving through their journey in a passive state, taking on whatever comes up, not really seeing what course of life is coming their way, and definitely not directing it. Too many people are not looking into the future, taking a ride on their time machine to explore exactly where they are heading.

Where do you think your time machine would take you – to a place you are thrilled with or one that scares you?

Maybe it’s time to take a deeper look into your future and get honest given the habits you’ve cultivated at this moment – where you are today. Once you try this, you just might start to make some new decisions and to realize that you still can change the direction of where you are headed. Perhaps, after taking a ride in the time machine, you will be able to list all the meaningful why’s that will support the changes you dream of but for whatever reason, you haven’t moved forward with.

Let’s do it!

writing

1. Grab paper and pen and find a quiet spot where you can sit uninterrupted for at least 30 minutes.

2. Close your eyes, breathe and clear your mind of all that is going on. Get in a meditative state.

3. Now press the lever and let’s move 5 years into the future based on the direction you are going now. Where are you? How do you look and feel? What are you doing? Are you completely satisfied? What emotions does this bring up?

Jot a few notes down about what you experienced, including your emotions.

4. Do it again for 10 years, then 20+ years, each time taking a few notes.

Alright, enough of that. Stand up and shake it off.

Were you thrilled with your future or were you scared, sad, depressed, disappointed, wanting more out of life? If you weren’t 100% thrilled, it is time to get back into the time machine.

Follow steps 1-4 above again but thinking about how you want the future to be.

Now take all of your notes and write two contrasting lists – one showing what will happen in your future if you stay the course you are currently on, the other showing what you really want for your life in terms of your health, who you are with and where you will be.

When you do this exercise completely and honestly, your lists will become the meaningful why’s of creating a more healthful and meaningful life.

Did you get a new sense of deep motivation? Are you ready to dive into making changes without the excuses that might have been getting in your way before? Use your time machine to help you make decisions, health goals and commitments now that will change the course of your future!

Let me know in the comments or by contacting me if this exercise helped you, or if you need more support. Sometimes these types of exercises get the best results when led by someone, which I can do as part of my free Discovery Session. Just let me know if you need that extra bit of support, I’d be happy to help. Happy travels!

What Our Clients Say*

During my FitLife transformation, I lost 70 pounds! That's why I signed up for the protocol, but the most exciting result is that I found ME in the process. I had been hiding under a pile of pounds, self-doubt, and grief! FitLife changed my life and I knew I had to share it with others.

-Lynne, Longwood FL

I started with Fitlife back in 2011-2012…I wrote into Fitlife asking for an extreme amount of help. I was 300 pounds, with high cholesterol, and Drew helped me transform my life. I lost over 130 pounds and I no longer have high cholesterol. Not only did I lose weight, so did my husband, who lost over 70 pounds!
