Healthy Hot Chocolate Squares

I have a serious sweet tooth. In fact, after every meal – I need SOMETHING sweet. Usually, I just go for a piece of dark chocolate to satisfy the craving, but sometimes, I also like to get creative in the kitchen and try new things.

I found this awesome recipe from Real Food RN for a hot chocolate-tasting square that totally hits the spot.

Not only do these squares taste delicious – but they are seriously FULL of health benefits!

  • For starters – real chocolate is a powerful source of antioxidants and minerals. Antioxidants counteract the damaging effects of oxidation in your body.
  • Refined sugar is replaced with raw honey, which is antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal. PLUS, because it is raw, it has tons of vitamins and enzymes.
  • Coconut oil is an incredible healthy fat and energy source.
  • Gelatin – a translucent substance that comes from the collagen in animal bones – is amazing for your skin, hair, nails, teeth and more.

This recipe is super-easy and should totally take the place of your nightly dessert. Yielding around 25 squares – you can store these already cut up in the refrigerator so that they are easy to grab at the end of the day. Get your chocolate fix and get healthy!

Healthy Hot Chocolate Squares
  • 1 ¼ cup boiling water
  • 3 tbsp gelatin
  • ½ cup cold water
  • ½ cup cocoa powder
  • ½ cup coconut milk powder (optional – you can also use another ½ cup of cocoa powder instead)
  • 1 cup coconut oil
  • ⅓ cup raw honey
  • 1 tbsp vanilla
  • Pinch sea salt
  • Additional coconut oil for greasing baking dish
  1. Grease a glass baking dish with coconut oil and set aside.
  2. In a small sauce pan, boil 1¼ cups water.
  3. Then, in a high powered blender, add the gelatin and ½ cold water.
  4. Allow it to sit and “bloom” for a few minutes — that’s fancy talk for allowing it to gel.
  5. Next, add the rest of the ingredients to the blender.
  6. Blend until liquefied.
  7. Pour into your greased baking dish.
  8. Place into your fridge until set.
  9. Slice into cubes and enjoy!

What Our Clients Say*

During my FitLife transformation, I lost 70 pounds! That's why I signed up for the protocol, but the most exciting result is that I found ME in the process. I had been hiding under a pile of pounds, self-doubt, and grief! FitLife changed my life and I knew I had to share it with others.

-Lynne, Longwood FL

I started with Fitlife back in 2011-2012…I wrote into Fitlife asking for an extreme amount of help. I was 300 pounds, with high cholesterol, and Drew helped me transform my life. I lost over 130 pounds and I no longer have high cholesterol. Not only did I lose weight, so did my husband, who lost over 70 pounds!
