Can you believe that it’s already St. Patrick’s Day?

The year is racing by fast, it’s crazy.

I am not complaining though. Daylight savings is awesome – love me some sunshine, please – and I am pretty stoked for all the green festivities that come with St. Patrick’s Day. Green hats, green shirts, green nail polish, green beer… Did I say beer? I don’t even like or drink beer. What I actually meant to say was green SMOOTHIES.

Drinking green smoothies is always good for you as they are packed with remedying nutrients, greens, fruits and superfoods, gut-loving fiber and a dose of happiness. St. Patrick’s Day only gives you another excuse to drink a green smoothie.

What Makes This Smoothie So Healthy And Delicious

This particular green smoothie is delicious. Trust me, I am currently sipping on it. Heaven. Sweet, yet not too sweet, smooth and satisfying.

It is full of spinach, which is a powergreen approved by Popeye himself. Spinach is full of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory ingredients. It is great for your digestion, your blood pressure, skin, bones and brain function. You may have to go to the gym though to get Popeye’s muscles… (bummer).

Other ingredients of this smoothie include pineapples, bananas, coconut water and hemp seeds.

Pineapples are magic packed with vitamins and minerals that prevent colds and flus, improve inflammation in your body, prevent arthritis pain, lower your risk of muscle degeneration and strengthen your bones.

Bananas help with energy before a workout, then aid recovery after. They are great for your brain function, emotional health, digestion and can help prevent chronic diseases.

Coconut water is abundant in electrolytes and is very hydrating. It is the perfect post-workout drink.

Hemp protein or hemp seeds provide you with the necessary anti-inflammatory omega-3s, healthy fats and protein.

An Excellent Post-Workout Smoothie

Come to think of it, this drink is not only perfect for St. Patrick’s Day, but it is an excellent post-workout smoothie as well, packed with ingredients that help with recovery, hydrating electrolytes, vitamins, minerals, healthy fats, protein and carbs. You have no excuse not to try it.

The Healthiest St. Patrick’s Day Smoothie
  • 1 cup of fresh spinach
  • 1 cup of coconut water (or regular water)
  • .5 cup of pineapple
  • 1 ripe banana peeled
  • 2 tsp of hemp protein powder or hemp seeds
  1. Add your water and spinach to the blender. Puree smooth.
  2. Add your fruits and hemp protein/seeds and blend again until desired consistency.

Put your green hat and sunglasses on and enjoy. Don’t forget to kiss an Irish person – or a loved one in a green shirt.
