Green juices are my first love but green smoothies come a close second. The difference between juices and smoothies is that the smoothie contains all the fibre of the fruit and vegetable which helps the body to eliminate in a timely fashion! The reason I drink green smoothies over purely fruit smoothies is because greens are the source of life. Green leafy vegetables are a fantastic source of protein and are packed with chlorophyll, oxygen and phytonutrients and including them in a smoothie makes it much easier for the body to assimilate and saves you having to chow down on a ton of the stuff.

Juicing versus Blending!

Juicing Benefits

When you juice you push clean produce through the chute of a juicer. This process removes the insoluble fiber (but the soluble fiber remains in the juice). Important micronutrients typically more difficult to absorb become accessible to the human body. These nutrients include digestive enzymes and certain phytonutrients. Also, by creating an all liquid product, the body and consume more of these phytonutrients at once.

Blending Benefits

When you make smoothies, you load up a blender with clean, fresh or frozen fruits, and green leafy veggies (swiss chard or spinach, for example) and liquid like coconut water, juice or almond milk. You can also add ingredients like almonds, hemp or soy milk, cacao nibs or chia seed for fun.

When you drink smoothies, your body benefits from the phytonutrients found in the skin and flesh of fruits and veggies. You also benefit from the large amounts of fiber found in whole fruits and vegetables. Fiber is important for regulating blood sugar, keeping bowels regular, aiding in hunger control, and it may help prevent certain types of cancers.

Both juicing and smoothies are beneficial to your health. Make sure you are choosing certified organic fruits and vegetables in your juices and smoothies. I love juicing vegetables because I get super energized and ready for

anything. I love knowing that my body is getting amazing nutrients while healing itself at the same time. Check out the Alpha Reset - it's a great juice cleanse that I offer to my own clients.

Here are my  favorite juice recipes!

1. Celery is a great base for any juice. Celery is part of the carrot, parsley, and fennel family. Celery juicing recipes are widely used as a diuretic, which increasing the passing of urine. Celery is rich in sodium and potassium, which is a great after workout drink. Celery contains coumarins, which have anticancer properties. Coumarin also help lower blood pressure and also help with migraines.

It is important to wash celery ribs thoroughly. Select celery that is light green and firm. A key way to see if the celery is fresh is that the ribs should snap not bend.

Celery is used as a base in many vegetable juices. It tastes amazing, is light and has a “cooling” effect when you drink it. Thus you can add celery ribs to many of your favorite juicing recipes.

2. Believe it or not, I love juicing garlic. It adds a kick to my juice. Garlic is a powerful ingredient, so start juicing with it! It has been used for coughs, colds, toothaches, dandruff, and many other symptoms. Research conducted has shown that garlic lowers blood sugar, eliminates lead in the body, has detoxification properties, strengths the immune system, has anticancer properties, has antibacterial and anti-fungal properties. Garlic has sulfur containing compounds such as allicin (also responsible for the potent odor of garlic), diallyltrisulfide and others that create a therapeutic effect. The best way to take garlic is raw. When garlic is cooked it losses some of its therapeutic effects. Research suggests that 3 cloves of garlic are recommended per day.

Best garlic to buy is fresh and firm garlic. Avoid garlic that has evidence of decay or mildew.

3. I could juice kale all day. Kale is rich in vitamins and minerals like calcium, potassium, iron and have anticancer properties. This makes it perfect for juicing. Kale is also rich in fiber and detoxifies your entire system. You should select kale that is fresh, dark green and tender.
