Got A Headache? You Need To Drink THIS
By Kat Gal
If there is someone who can tell you about headaches, it’s me. I have dealt with chronic headaches since childhood and had a terrible case of a non-stop chronic headache that lasted for about 4 and a half years.
I have now been headache-free since 2013.
Though my headaches were due to underlying emotional issues and disappeared from time to time, once I discovered the root problems of headaches in general, most headaches have proven to be much less complex.
Many headaches have a very simple cause. Very often it is dehydration that may also come along with mineral deficits. If dehydration is the reason for your headache, the simple answer is drinking water. However, if you want to give your headache battling efforts an extra kick, you should also try adding Himalayan salt to your water.
Himalayan salt adds electrolytes and minerals to your water that you may also be deficient of if you are dehydrated.
Though there are some other drinks – such as sports drinks – that contain electrolytes, they are typically unnatural, processed and full of sugar. A glass of Himalayan salt water is a natural and easy way to get your minerals in without sugary additives. Adding a bit of lemon is also a bonus, as it helps to clean your liver and alkalize your body.
This may not be the most pleasant tasting drinks of all, but it may just be the solution for your afternoon headaches.
Even if you are dealing with more severe headaches, chronic headaches, or migraines, Himalayan salt can still help you. Research suggests that mineral deficiencies can play a role in migraines, including magnesium deficiencies.
This is how to make your Himalayan Salt Water:
- 2 tsp Himalayan salt
- 1 cup of lemon juice
- Lemon zest
- 1 cup of water
- Just mix all ingredients together and drink up.
Tension headaches are often caused by muscle tension, especially in your neck and shoulders. Magnesium is also a mineral that can help prevent or to alleviate muscle tension. Himalayan salt contains magnesium and 83 other minerals, elements and electrolytes.
Liver toxicity or a processed food habit can also lead to headaches and this drink can help you to alkalize your system and kick-start your liver detoxification. Even without a headache, you can benefit from the electrolyte and mineral content of this Himalayan salt water and with the added lemon, your body will thank you for the bonus vitamin C as well.
As with any health condition, you will also benefit from living a healthy lifestyle, eating a whole foods, mostly plant-based, organic diet, getting minimum 20-30 minutes of exercise a day, sleeping 7-9 hours a night and reducing stress in your life.
Looking into emotional reasons behind your pain can be beneficial as well. A coach, counselor, or therapist can guide you with this process. As a coach, for example, I guide my clients through increasing self-love, life satisfaction, happiness, joy, gratitude and forgiveness, along with adopting a healthier diet, which process often leads to the decrease or the complete elimination of pain. It is always a holistic mind-body-soul process.
If you are dealing with frequent or chronic headaches or migraines, it is a good idea to visit your doctor and look into potential underlying health conditions and to find out about potential vitamin or mineral deficiencies. This can give you an even clearer idea of where to start with getting rid of your headaches, along with this Himalayan salt water.
