Eliminate Your Self-Doubt: Powerful Mantras To Keep You Going
Written by: Kavata Kithome
My father once told me that depression can be caused by not managing my expectations effectively.
This was during one of his epic monologues, where he repeats things to drive the point home. I admit, an hour into his monologue, my mind wandered to the things I needed to do the next day. At which time he said, “It is important to manage your expectations, because if they are not met, they can lead to disappointment and constant disappointment can lead to depression.”
Thank goodness he repeated himself, because this nugget has stayed with me ever since.
Life isn’t always simple, I can certainly attest to that, I have felt empty and hopeless. But the turning point for me was when I aligned with my true self, the authentic me who wanted to be her own boss and add value in the lives of others.
Even then, I was consumed with fear and anxiety and had no clear direction – until I discovered power mantras. My father’s wise words rang in my head and with the help of these mantras, I have slowly been shifting my mindset.
Mantras are positive affirmations that can shift your mind in any way you desire. I started to use mantras daily and soon enough, combined with removing the things that no longer served me, I started creating a life I love.
Do you feel stuck in fear or trapped by circumstances? Try some of my favorite mantras to help you soldier on:
1. “I release all worry. I celebrate what could go right.”
Any troubling, negative thoughts can prevent you from reaching your goals. Instead of worrying about what could go wrong, begin celebrating what could go right. Tony Robbins said it best, “what’s wrong is always available and so is what’s right.”
2. “All my needs are met.”
If an area of your life feels strained because you don’t understand how it could possibly work out, turn to faith. Plenty of possibilities are available when you are open to receiving. Remember Tony Robbins’ wise words, “all I need is within me now.”
3. “My desires are on their way to me.”
If you are like me, you may spend time worrying about a certain outcome or being consumed with frustration because you have not reached your goal. In your efforts, your results are strained. Taking time to relax can help you become more productive and discover new ways to reach your goals.
4. “I am open and willing to live my life in new ways.”
A closed door can lead to new opportunities for growth and expansion. Your power is not in how the situation has played out, but in how you proceed.
5. “There are no wrong decisions because I learn from every choice.”
If you do only what you are comfortable with, you will never grow. The mistakes you have made were not in vain. They have led you to a greater understanding of self and your place in the world. Oprah said it best, “there are no mistakes, are no failure, no wrong paths, failure is just that thing that tries to move you to the right direction.” Instead of regretting your past, focus instead on looking at the benefits of each outcome.
6. “I release what I cannot change.”
Remember, you can’t change what you are unwilling to accept. You will see that letting go of what you can’t change is real acceptance. The serenity prayer is also a good one to keep in your arsenal.
7. “Gratitude is the life force of everything.”
It is easy to focus on what you don’t have and what is not working. This I believe is what my father was trying to tell me. But by turning your focus to gratitude, you will open up new opportunities. Being thankful is truly the life force that pushes you to what you truly desire. Your path will become less strained when you turn your energy to love and gratitude.
8. “I envision myself living my ideal life.”
You may find yourself not believing in the power of your dreams. Remember as Walt Disney said, “When you believe in a thing, believe in it all the way, implicitly and unquestionably.” Moving forward, it is important for you to focus on what you want and spend time visualizing your success. Your imagination is your most powerful asset in creating your dream life. When you can believe it before you actually see it, you will be successful in creating your future. Trust the visions that come to you and imagine yourself living the life you truly want.
As Walt Disney said, “We keep moving forward, opening new doors and doing new things, because we’re curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.” When you feel fear bubbling over and rendering you paralyzed, remember these mantras and fall into the fear.
