Effective Ways To Practice Mindfulness

Mindfulness involves paying attention to the present moment in a non-judgmental and curious way. Any time you are able to prevent your mind from wandering into the past or future and make it focus on the present, you get to be more productive. When you practice mindfulness, you are able to make good, focused choices in various aspects of your life, be it in your career life, family life or personal life.

The best way to notice that your mind has shifted from the present is to practice mindfulness. There are many benefits that come from mindfulness such as stress reduction, slowed aging, reduced anxiety, strengthened mental health and much more. But what many people are not aware of is HOW to practice mindfulness.

Ways To Start Practicing Mindfulness

Live In The Moment

Make sure that you enjoy the present moment fully. Don’t allow past or future events to take control of your present. Embrace the current moment and get the most out of it. Mindfulness involves being fully aware of what’s happening now and so no need to let other moments take control. Living the moment involves loving what you do, your life and your surroundings.

Limit Gadget Use

Nowadays, most people start their day by checking their phone for emails or notifications. It is recommended that you get rid of it for some times once in awhile so that you can pay full attention to the present moment. Don’t let your gadgets shift your focus from the most important things; this is a great way to practice mindfulness.


Meditation is one of the best ways to practice mindfulness. It is important to dedicate a few minutes every day to meditation. This can be as simple as using ten to twenty minutes to sit, relax and be in the present moment.

Pay Attention To Your Breathing

We may not be conscious of our breathing, but it really dictates a lot about our feelings. Your breathing should be free-flowing and smooth; it should not be restricted or tense. When we are stressed, our breathing pattern is altered, so it is important to ensure that you pay attention to your breathing.

Stop Multitasking

Nowadays, we find ourselves handling more than one task at a time. This as a frequent habit is unhealthy and in order to be mindful, it is important to refrain from multitasking. It is recommended that you handle one task at a time based on priority; this will increase your productivity and boost your focus.

Practice Mindful Eating

Eating your food mindfully involves chewing it properly and slowing down. When you eat fast, the food is not broken down properly and this leads to improper digestion. Eating slowly and carefully ensures that the food is broken down into small particles and this aids in digestion, therefore, reducing the risk of harming your digestive system.

Break Your Routine

In order to get the most out of the present moment, it is important to break your routine and do things differently. This way, you will be able to see things in a whole new perspective and this will help you enjoy the present more and have renewed focus.

Regular practice of all the above should ease the whole process of mindfulness and it will eventually come naturally to you. You will be more focused in your tasks and you will be highly productive in whatever you do. You will be able to handle your chores without shifting your mind to past or future moments that may negatively affect you.
