To Make A Tincture:
  • 1 1-pint glass jar, clean
  • ΒΌ cup dried echinacea
  • 1 pint vodka
  1. Place the dried echinacea in the jar.
  2. Pour the vodka over the top. You may end up using a little less than 1 pint of vodka. Make sure that you fill the jar to the shoulder so that there is a little room left at the top.
  3. Seal the jar tightly with the lid.
  4. Leave the mixture at room temperature unopened for 6 weeks. Shake every few days.
  5. After the 6 weeks have passed, strain the herbs out of the vodka. You can do this by placing a cheesecloth over a large bowl and securing it with a rubber band. Pour the mixture into the cheesecloth, allowing to drain for a few minutes.
  6. When the mixture is drained, use your hand to wrap the cheesecloth around the herbs and squeeze out the excess liquid.
  7. Throw away the herbs.
