Easy Wellness Hacks For When You’re Feeling Lazy

I have a few people in my life who are very health conscious, but really don’t like to do the prep that goes along with healthy eating. That’s understandable. For me, it is no secret that I am not a big fan of prepping; it is a daunting task that I never look forward to.
From experience though, I know that the rewards of prepping make it worth it, though this still doesn’t convince all of my friends. They prefer the easy way out; just hearing even half of my prep routine overwhelms them.
If you are anything like them, then this post is for you. I have put together some simple wellness hacks that don’t take you much time, but can successfully help you stay on track!
1. Keep Your pH Balanced
Begin the day by drinking lemon water and continue to drink it throughout the day. Lemon water is very alkalizing and can even neutralize acid in the body. Lemon’s citric acid enhances your body’s ability to naturally flush out toxins and aids in digestion. This is so important and fortunately super easy.
Simply cut a half a lemon and squeeze it into a large glass or water bottle. Dump the rest of the lemon into the glass and fill and refill with lukewarm or room-temperature water throughout the day.
2. Add Fruit To Your Diet
One of my favourite things to do with my fruits and veggies is to juice them, because when taken in this form, it is like shooting your veins with all the goodness these life-giving foods have to offer. But juicing does take prep and time and/or money, so for you, my friend, I recommend adding at least one fruit a day to your diet. Pick one that you love, there are so many to choose from. Your body will love you for it.
3. Avoid Junk Food The Easy Way
One of the best ways to keep yourself on track with making healthy choices throughout the day is beginning the day with something healthy. I have found that when I eat a good healthy breakfast, I tend to stay on track all day. I like to have a healthy bowl of oatmeal or a nutrient dense smoothie. Find what works for you.
4. Do One Yoga Pose To Relieve Stress And Refresh
I may not be the best person to get this advice from, because I will encourage you to go to a power or hot yoga class. But I understand that you may not be into the whole yoga thing, so for you, I recommend one yoga pose that helps the body relieve stress and refresh.
Legs-up-on-the-wall pose (called a headstand) is the easiest pose ever and is known to aid the lymphatic system, regulate blood pressure and alleviate depression, anxiety and menstrual cramps (for my ladies) and bonus – stretches your hamstrings. Give it a try once a day and see what it can do for you.
5. Keep Your Home Clean By Taking Off Your Shoes
In my mother’s house, we were not allowed to enter with shoes. This was always something I have done and still do to this day. I am really busy and barely have time to clean my home and even when I do, it is not thoroughly done.
As you go about your day running errands, going to work and picking up children from school, your shoes are picking up bacteria like E. Coli and meningitis, so when you walk around your home with the same shoes you were out with, you are bringing harmful bacteria into your home. Be sure to remove your shoes when you enter your home and it will make your home an even healthier environment.
6. Go Commando When You Sleep
Here is a fun fact about me, I really enjoy sleeping naked, because without the clothes bunching up each time I sleep, I am able to have quality, restful sleep. But that may not be for you, so instead, don’t wear underwear to bed. Not wearing underwear can reduce bacteria growth that can cause bladder infections and other “down there” infections that make life really uncomfortable.
7. Reduce Your Carbohydrate Intake With Simple Tweaks
Changing your whole diet can be intimidating, to say the least. Most diets tell you what to take out and very seldom what to use to replace all you have taken out. Rather than just tossing things out the window, make simple adjustments to your everyday foods. For example, have an open face sandwich, or opt for a wrap instead. Switch out sour cream for plain greek yogurt. Switch dairy milk with almond milk. The options are endless.
