Easy Way To Connect With Nature, Using Healing Power Of Plants
Written by: Kat Gal
Plants are amazing!
All of them are. Many plants are edible and provide nourishment to our body. However, even inedible plants can be medicine to the soul.
For instance, hugging a tree is loving and healing. You can just feel its heart and soul.
Earthing also has so many benefits, it provides you with energy from the Earth and connects you with nature.
Just observing plants as well can make you smile instantly. Just think of your favorite flower. I bet you smiled, didn’t you?
Ready for a new and powerful nature connecting activity?
There is one powerful plant exercise you need to try the next time you go outside. It only takes a very short time, but it is a worthwhile experience.
Go outside and pick up a plant. Any plant, really, it doesn’t matter which one, just pick it up. It can be something you’ve seen a million times, or something brand new. It doesn’t matter.
Now look at it for 30 seconds. Notice its characteristics. Does it have any marks? Perhaps any discolorations? How are its edges, leaves and steam? Are they smooth or serrated? What color they are? How is the color different on its bottom and top?
Now go ahead and crush the stem. Smell it. What does it smell like? How does your body respond to this scent? Do you find its aroma nice or perhaps repulsive? Maybe it makes you hungry.
Ask yourself more questions. Get creative and come up with as many questions as you possibly can, then answer them. Don’t overcomplicate things. Think of simple questions, like if you were a curious little kid.
By getting curious, asking yourself questions and answering them is the best way to familiarize yourself with a plant. You are creating a mental map through this process, which will help you remember new plants and get to know known plants better.
This hands-on approach is not only powerful in familiarizing yourself with plants and identifying them, but also in simply connecting with nature.
Notice how close you will feel to the plant itself and nature in general by the end of the exercise. Notice your mood. Notice how much calmer and happier you feel. Notice how healing and meditative connecting with nature can be.
Have you done this exercise? No? Go outside and try it. Seriously, get up and do it! Share your experiences in the comments below. As always, we’d love to hear from you.
