Ease Your Stress And Anxiety With These Soothing Teas

Written by: Brandi Monasco

One of my favorite things to drink is a nice cup of hot tea, especially during the colder months of the year. While my favorite tea is green tea, which has MANY benefits of its own, there are also several other teas that I like to drink when I’m feeling under the weather or even just need to relax and try to relieve myself of stress or anxiety.

Stress and anxiety are common everyday issues for many people. Both stress and anxiety can cause major damage to your health and body if you are not able to properly take care of the issues at hand.

What many people may not know is that there are several teas available if you are dealing with stress and anxiety. These teas help you to relax and take your mind off of everything you are dealing with and can even help you sleep!

Chamomile Tea

Sometimes you may feel too stressed to sleep and that is perfectly normal if you suffer with constant stress and anxiety. Not only does chamomile help to relieve stress and anxiety, but it also helps with insomnia. Chamomile tea helps to relax your muscles and promote sleep. It is also rich in antioxidants, which can help to combat damage caused from stress.

How To Prepare:

  1. Using dry chamomile, add 3 to 4 tablespoons in 8 ounces of boiling water.
  2. Allow to steep for 5 minutes.

Peppermint Tea

Peppermint tea is very aromatic. The aroma from peppermint naturally reduces your stress and lowers your anxiety level. Peppermint also contains menthol, which works as a natural muscle relaxer, which is great because when you are stressed or anxious, your muscles tend to tense up. When you drink peppermint tea, it can help give you an overall feeling of calmness and it is another great tea to drink to help you fall asleep.

How To Prepare:

  1. Using either fresh or dry peppermint leaves, add 1 tablespoon of leaves to about 8 ounces of boiling water.
  2. Allow the leaves to steep for 3 to 4 minutes.
  3. Strain before drinking.

Green Tea

Green tea contains polyphenol, which helps to relieve stress and anxiety. Unlike some of the other teas, green tea does contain caffeine. So while green tea does make you feel more at ease, it does not cause you to feel sleepy.

How To Prepare:

  1. Add half of a tablespoon of powdered green tea leaves into 1 cup of water.
  2. Boil the water until the leaves settle to the bottom.
  3. Strain before drinkings.

Passion Flower Tea

The passion flower contains a compound called chrysin that has anti-anxiety benefits. The anti-anxiety benefits found in this flower help to improve your sleep and have also been shown to calm patients before surgery. Passion flower also contains a variety of flavonoids that help in reducing inflammation and cortisol.

How To Prepare:

  1. Add 1 tablespoon of dried passion flower to a cup of boiling water.
  2. Steep for 10 minutes.

Where To Find These Leaves:

Many of the leaves and flowers can be found at your local healthfood store.

What Our Clients Say*

During my FitLife transformation, I lost 70 pounds! That's why I signed up for the protocol, but the most exciting result is that I found ME in the process. I had been hiding under a pile of pounds, self-doubt, and grief! FitLife changed my life and I knew I had to share it with others.

-Lynne, Longwood FL

I started with Fitlife back in 2011-2012…I wrote into Fitlife asking for an extreme amount of help. I was 300 pounds, with high cholesterol, and Drew helped me transform my life. I lost over 130 pounds and I no longer have high cholesterol. Not only did I lose weight, so did my husband, who lost over 70 pounds!
