Don’t Neglect Your Intake Of This Important Supplement

Written by: Liz Perkins

You have more bacteria cells in your gut than you do cells in your body. If you have an overabundance of disease-causing organisms in your GI tract, you will find yourself experiencing less harmony in your body and your emotions.

For instance, Bifido sp. bacterium, a “good bug,” helps you feel calm and relaxed. It’s a natural probiotic that has resided in your GI tract from the time you were born. When there is a lack of this particular strain, it can lead to symptoms of anxiety. Just one of example of why having the right gut bugs present is so important.

Maybe you’re already diligent about getting your vitamins every day, which is great! But are you including probiotics too? Let me tell you WHY including a probiotic in your daily regimen should absolutely be considered… it’s more important than you may realize.

The study – Probiotic bacteria may aid against anxiety and memory problemsfound that probiotic pills decreased common symptoms of anxiety. In fact, participants had less stress and lower levels of cortisol after consistently taking a probiotic for just one month.

WHY Probiotics Decrease Your Anxiety Level

  • Your resilience is related to the number of good bugs in your gut.

Your ratio of good bacteria to bad bacteria in your belly influences your stability. If you eat processed foods and high amounts of simple carbs, you may have more bad flora than good. You may experience mood swings and irritability as a result of poor dietary choices feeding the bad bugs.

  • 90% of the happy hormone, serotonin, is created in your gut by your gut flora, not your brain.

Serotonin is a neurotransmitter that is associated with positive thoughts. When your gut flora is imbalanced, you do not make as much of this vital mood-stabilizing chemical.

  • You digest and absorb your food better when you eat foods that contain natural probiotics.

We have evolved synergistic relationships with these bacteria; when traditional cultures ate meals, they always included fermented foods with every meal. Miso is an example of a fermented food, yogurt and kefir are also foods that add beneficial microorganisms to a meal.

The good bacteria live primarily in the colon and help to feed the colon cells with butyrate. This keeps the colon cells nourished and healthy and the tissue is able to perform its function of moving things along at the right pace.

  • You have better immunity.

Most of your immunity is in your gut-associated lymphatic tissue and one of the first lines of defense is actually the bugs like Bifido sp. They kill invaders in your gut before the white blood cells even get to them. These little guys are your army, protecting you from potential invaders.

Easy Ways To Get Probiotics In Your Body

  • Yogurt
  • Kefir (goat or coconut are great options)

Feeding Your Gut Flora The RIGHT Food

  • Prebiotics: These are the foods that the probiotics eat so that they can better support your incredible body.
  • Green leafy vegetables
  • Inulina complex carbohydrate found in starchy root vegetables.

Your gut flora love these foods and will ferment them once the are ingested – it gives them energy. It helps them grow and divide and take up real estate in your GI tract, instead of pathogenic bacteria.

You can cover all the basic probiotic wants of your body by taking a probiotic every day and also adding fermented foods to your diet. This way, you can slowly and surely shift your gut flora over to one that is more balanced than it’s ever been before, making it all the more possible for YOU to stay balanced, too!

During my FitLife transformation, I lost 70 pounds! That's why I signed up for the protocol, but the most exciting result is that I found ME in the process. I had been hiding under a pile of pounds, self-doubt, and grief! FitLife changed my life and I knew I had to share it with others.

-Lynne, Longwood FL

I started with Fitlife back in 2011-2012…I wrote into Fitlife asking for an extreme amount of help. I was 300 pounds, with high cholesterol, and Drew helped me transform my life. I lost over 130 pounds and I no longer have high cholesterol. Not only did I lose weight, so did my husband, who lost over 70 pounds!
