Detox During Dinner Tonight With Moroccan Style Chickpeas

Some days I will start to think about what I want to eat for dinner at lunchtime.

Other days my visions of a delightfully delicious dinner start shortly after breakfast.

What can I say… I LOVE food, especially food that gives my body a great big healthy high five from the inside out.

This is EXACTLY what this detoxing dinner dish will do for you!

With international aromas and zesty flavors, it will not only tantalize your tastebuds, but will also give you body a cleansing boost.

Detoxing Benefits Of Moroccan Style Chickpeas

Chickpeas
  • Great source of iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphate, calcium, zinc and vitamin K
  • Supports building and maintaining bone structure and strength

Tomato

How To Make Moroccan Style Chickpeas

Ingredients:

  • 2 cans of organic chickpeas, 14 ounces each
  • 2 cans fire roasted diced tomatoes, 14 ounces each
  • ¼ cup chopped onion
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tbsp cumin
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • Pinch of cinnamon and cayenne (to desired taste) 

Toppings:

  • Cucumbers
  • Couscous
  • Fresh mint, cilantro,  parsley
  • Yogurt or hummus
  • Olive oil
  • Lemon juice 

Instructions:

1. In a large skillet over medium heat, heat the olive oil and add the onion.

      • Saute until soft.
      • Add garlic, spices, salt and chickpeas.
      • Stir until fragrant. 

2. Add the tomatoes (undrained) and simmer 20 minutes.

3. Prep the other ingredients.

      • Chop the cucumbers
      • Cook the couscous,
      • Mince the herbs 

4. Arrange bowls with chickpeas on bottom and top with your desired ingredients.

I enjoyed my Moroccan Style Chickpeas with a dollop of Greek Yogurt mixed with salt and pepper. It added the perfect cooling effect for this spicy dish!
