Coconut Oil Really Is The Ingredient You Need

Written by: Brandi Monasco

Coconut oil has gotten a bad mark on its reputation recently and that is because it is loaded with saturated fats. But this isn’t the saturated fats that clog your arteries; it is actually a “healthy” fat.

This type of saturated fat is a medium-chain triglyceride that is made up of medium-chain fatty acids. This is a completely different type of fat than the saturated fat that you would find in fried and greasy foods.

Medium-chain fatty acids are digested and sent directly to the liver to be used for energy production. This type of fat provides weight loss benefits and is easier for your body to digest.

Coconut oil has been in the spotlight for a while and is known for its many beauty and health benefits. It is antifungal, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory and, because of these amazing properties, it really is quite good for you!

Here are just some of the benefits coconut oil has to offer:

1. Weight Loss Benefits. The short and medium-chain fatty acids that are found in coconut oil provide excellent weight loss benefits. Coconut oil is easy for your body to digest and to absorb its nutrients, making it helpful in providing a function for your endocrine system and thyroid.

2. Improves Digestion. The fatty acids in coconut oil relieve digestion problems and disorders such as the stomach bug and irritable bowel syndrome. Coconut oil also soothes candida and bacteria that could potentially upset your stomach.

3. Energy Booster. The medium-chain fatty acids can give you a great pick-me-up if you need it in the afternoon. It is even more effective when partnered with chia seeds, which boost performance and endurance. When you add coconut with chia seeds, you get the digestive benefits of both the chia seeds and coconut oil together, making them super effective.

Not a fan of chia seeds? Spread 1 or 2 teaspoons of coconut oil on your toast in the morning rather than butter for a morning energy boost!

4. Supports Immunity. The antiviral, antifungal and antibacterial properties in coconut oil come from healthy fats called lauric acid, capric acid and caprylic acid. Your body digests these fats and turns them into monolaurin, which has been said to relieve the flu, candida and more.

5. Cardiovascular Benefits. Contrary to many beliefs, the saturated fat found in coconut oil is actually healthy for you and benefits your heart. Coconut oil contains about 50% lauric acid, which helps in preventing cardiovascular problems.

The next time you are at the grocery store, be sure to pick up a jar of coconut oil and try it out! You can use coconut oil in your cooking as a replacement for vegetable oil, use it on your home-popped popcorn, add it to your smoothies, you can even use it for skin care and in your hair! Check out this article HERE for a whole list of ways to start incorporating this amazing oil into your life.

Coconut oil has so many more benefits to offer that are not even listed here. What are your favorite uses for it? Let us know in the comments below!

What Our Clients Say*

During my FitLife transformation, I lost 70 pounds! That's why I signed up for the protocol, but the most exciting result is that I found ME in the process. I had been hiding under a pile of pounds, self-doubt, and grief! FitLife changed my life and I knew I had to share it with others.

-Lynne, Longwood FL

I started with Fitlife back in 2011-2012…I wrote into Fitlife asking for an extreme amount of help. I was 300 pounds, with high cholesterol, and Drew helped me transform my life. I lost over 130 pounds and I no longer have high cholesterol. Not only did I lose weight, so did my husband, who lost over 70 pounds!
