Breaking Past Mental Barriers

Most people (if not all people), have mental barriers in one way or another.
If it’s physical, mental, relationships or whatever it may be… we have all been hit with them.
Fortunately, all barriers start in the mind and are manifested in the physical in your life.
ALL ROAD BLOCKS START IN YOUR MIND
I had a mentor tell me once….
Stand portal at the door of thought
Guard your individual thoughts and don’t let any negative, self doubt, worrisome thoughts into your experience.
Once they are in your mind, don’t focus on eliminating them. FOCUS on more powerful positive beliefs. REPLACE THEM with love, joy, hope, power, and determination.
This has been HUGE for me.
Recognizing that I’m separate from my thoughts and emotion has allowed me to blow past mental barriers or failures.
Many people say, once you fail it’s important to BOUNCE BACK as quickly as possible. I’ve changed my paradigm around this….
WHY bounce back when you can BOUNCE FORWARD!
I think personally mental barriers are something that needs to be addressed for this “mindset Monday” piece.
I’m going through one right now and it will help me explain how I push through it.
The first step as we discussed, is recognizing it all starts in your mind.
SECONDLY, BUILD UP A POWERFUL CASE AGAINST THE ENEMY
Like in a courtroom your enemy will attempt to throw you off guard and make you “guilty as charged.” Only in this courtroom your enemy is your own ego.
Your EGO wants you to remain safe. This is the EGO’s primary function.
If you look back at our genetic make up and how far we’ve come it’s evident that it’s done a damn good job at keeping us safe.
So in a sense you are in a continuous courtroom against an attorney (EGO) who has evolved for thousands of years and has built up defense mechanisms against you succeeding… all in the name of making you “SAFE.”
Are you confused yet? Lemme break it down for you.
The attorney wants you to remain little. Safe.
The attorney doesn’t want you to succeed or reach out of your comfort zone. Safe.
The attorney has bribed the judge and the jury to setup situations in your life that PROVE your incompetence. Keeping you…. Safe.
If you look back over the past year, your ability to remember times when you succeeded is a lot smaller then your memories of times when you struggled or won in the court room…
Am I right?
MOST PEOPLE hang on to failures and brush their wins under the carpet.
Because we are human.
I do it, you do it… everyone does it…
So how do we break free from this self induced prison of doom and destruction?
BREAKING FREE FROM THE ENEMY AND KILLING THE MENTAL BARRIER BEFORE IT STARTS…
Well, the good news is… it’s completely controllable.
You just have to have to build up your evidence against this monster.
My success coach Michael Nitti wrote a book on “The Trophy Effect.” In the book he talks about counting the trophies, good trophies and bad trophies.
Similar to the courtroom analogy.
We just have to start counting all of our wins, trophies and evidence against our own enemy.
All of the little victories we have on a daily basis.
So, what are some of the victories and how do we count them?
For me, it’s easy to push the fact that I work out everyday under the carpet and beat myself up for something like not washing my car for two weeks.
How many times have you done something to contribute to your own personal growth and forget about it, two minutes later when something negative creeps up on you?
I know this is a funny example but it gets the point across.
We have to start counting all of our victories and evidence for the courtroom. When you continuously “stock pile” the “good” evidence… the small little jabs from the evil villain will become less and less frequent.
Also, there is a law in this world that states, you get what you focus on. So, if you are focused diligently on the good, where can the bad come in?
You get my point.
So here is your homework. This is guaranteed to pull you out of any slump, mental barrier you may be in.
START COUNTING YOUR WINS – EVERYDAY
Life gives you whatever you give to it.
So, in your quest to triumph over the evil egoic attorney and his barrage of douche clowns…start stock piling your ammunition with awesome and amazing things about you.
There is no one like you in this experience, out of 7 billion people you are completely unique and have overflowing potential. Your only mission here, is to continuously grow and develop your own personal power.
Similar to the gratitude journal I speak about and you’ve heard from other sources, why not keep a file of evidence for the good side.
Start to write down all of your victories. SMALL things count. Even if it’s something as simple as opening the door up for someone….COUNT IT!
Count it all, and let me know how you feel after a week of gathering your file of evidence. You will begin to see at the end of this next week, how wildly amazing and awesome you are.
