Today we are going to teach you how to make a delicious breakfast that doesn’t contain any sugar (besides that which may occur naturally in vegetables). Most traditional breakfasts spike your blood sugar to the moon and leave you feeling hungry within an hour of eating, while also setting you up for a host of health problems.

What’s Wrong With The SAD Breakfast?

The standard American diet (what the average American eats on a daily basis) is extremely high in sugar, refined and processed foods, meat, fat and dairy and sadly low in fresh fruits and vegetables. In 2005 the Department of Agriculture released a statement saying that only 1 in 10 were eating the minimum recommended amount for vegetables and only ¼ of Americans were eating at least one serving of fruit every day.  

Hungry Again Before Lunch

Breakfasts that are high in sugar and carbs (most american breakfast items fall in these categories) digest extremely quickly and spike your blood sugar levels. When they inevitably crash, you’re left feeling tired and hungry before lunchtime rolls around. This means snacking, moodiness, weight gain, etc.

Little To No Phytonutrients

Based on a scale of 1-100 measuring percentage of calories from foods rich in phytonutrients, the standard American diet ranks 11. That means only 11% of the calories most americans are eating are actually nutrient dense! What does that say about the other 89%?

So now that we’ve got all the depressing stuff out of the way, let’s get to the goods! These recipes are PACKED FULL of phytonutrients, micronutrients and vitamins and minerals that will start your day off the right way! Eating a healthy diet can actually be incredibly satisfying, despite what you may think. You’ve just got to learn a few new skills in the kitchen and you’ll never want to go back to your old ways!

Sweet Potato Hash With Mushrooms, Eggs And Broccoli
 
Ingredients
  • Sweet Potato Hash
  • 1 sweet potato (diced)
  • 3 celery stalks (diced)
  • ½ onion (diced)
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil
  • 2 tsp ground coriander seed
  • 2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 ½ salt
  • Pepper to taste
  • Smoke salmon fillet
  • Poached egg
  • Roasted Broccoli
  • 1 head of broccoli
  • 2 tbsp coconut oil
  • 1 ½ tsp of salt
  • Pepper to taste
  • Mushrooms
  • 2 cups quartered mushrooms
  • ½ onion sliced
  • 2 tbsp organic coconut oil or organic grass fed butter
  • 1 tsp salt
  • Poached Egg
  • 1 quart of water
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp vinegar
  • 1 egg
Instructions
  1. Sweet Potato Hash
  2. Toss all ingredients together.
  3. Roast for 25-30 minutes on 375 degrees.
  4. Stir halfway through for even browning.
  5. Top with mushrooms, poached egg and roasted broccoli.
  6. Roasted Broccoli
  7. Cut broccoli in to bite size florets.
  8. Toss with coconut oil and seasoning.
  9. Roast at 375 degrees for 15 minutes.
  10. Mushrooms
  11. Saute mushrooms and onions on high in an oven safe pan for 4 minutes.
  12. Toss and season them.
  13. Roast in a 375 degree oven for 15 min.
  14. Poached Egg
  15. Bring water to a simmer 165-185 degrees.
  16. Add salt and vinegar.
  17. Swirl water to help keep the egg as tight as possible.
  18. Add the egg to the middle of the pan.
  19. Don't touch the egg for at least 3 min.
  20. Then you may use a slotted spoon to gently release the egg from the pan.
  21. Cool for 2 more minutes until the whites are completely cooked and the yolk is still runny. Serve immediately.
