POSTED ON March 17, 2015 BY Drew Canole
You and I know the importance of a healthy breakfast. Breakfast means “break the fast“, and there’s no better way to start up your system with good food that will supply your body’s energy for the rest of the day.
So what we want to share to you today is ahealthybreakfast chia bowl recipethat will make your mornings more beautiful and sunny!
These are the ingredients that we will need:
Chia Seeds – One of the most nutrient dense foods in the world, chia seeds are probably the best plant-based source of Omega-3s out there. Chia seeds are also a great source of magnesium and manganese, and aid in colon cleansing.
Chia seeds are known for their abundance of Omega-3 fatty acids, making them a great alternative from fish oil for vegans. These tiny seeds actually have more of the beneficial fats than salmon. The omega fatty acids can improve your heart health and cholesterol levels, and can be helpful in losing weight. The gel that is formed around the seed with the help of water has no calories and makes you feel more full.
These seeds contain an abundance of antioxidants, as well as complete protein, a rarity in plant sources. They balance your blood sugar and give you steady energy that lasts for hours (a good reason why runners have adopted chia). Chia seeds are also a great source of fiber; they have both soluble and insoluble fibers.
Coconut Milk –Coconut milk, especially the lower fat variety, can be used in moderation (1-2 times per week). Unlike cow’s milk, coconut milk is lactose free so it can be used as a milk substitute by those with lactose intolerance. It is a popular choice with vegans and makes a great base for smoothies, milkshakes or as a dairy alternative in baking.
Furthermore, the unique fatty acids in coconut milk may aid weight loss, improve immune function, reduce heart disease risk and improve skin and hair health.
Hemp Seeds – Hemp seeds are a great addition to vegan and vegetarian diets, as they’re packed with easily digestible proteins and contain all 10 essential amino acids, putting them among the rare plant-based foods that provide complete protein. These seeds are abundant in omega-3 fatty acids, as well as a specific omega-6 fatty acid (GLA) not found in any other food; hemp oil contains even more GLA.
Hemp seeds are high in fiber and are rich in minerals including magnesium, iron, zinc, and potassium. Hemp seeds are very rarely allergens, unlike many other nuts and seeds.
Coconut Flakes – An ounce of unsweetened dried coconut, sometimes called desiccated coconut, contains more than 4.5 grams of fiber, which is 18 percent of the daily value. Dietary fiber helps you feel full for longer, potentially making it easier to lose weight. It may also help limit your risk for high cholesterol, heart disease, certain types of cancer, and constipation and other digestive issues.
Coconut flakes are also a good source of minerals such as manganese and copper. Manganese is an antioxidant that helps prevent damage to your cells and heal wounds. It also plays a role in metabolism and bone development. You need copper, which is another antioxidant, for making red blood cells, forming collagen, absorbing iron and keeping your immune system and nerves functioning properly.
Almonds – Almonds are a healthy, savory snack, packed with protein, fiber and omega-3 and -6 fatty acids. Most people are aware of their health benefits and how to incorporate almonds into a healthy diet, but it is less well known that soaking almonds can unlock more health benefits and make them easier to digest. Soaking almonds increases the amount of nutrients and vitamins your body absorbs from the food, making it a simple and effective way to improve this healthy nut.
Soaked almonds are good energy and memory boosters. They are good for the heart and aid in skin glow, largely due to their antioxidant properties. They also prevent pre-mature ageing.
Blueberries – Blueberries have a lot of health benefits that it’s even labelled a superfood by many health experts. Blueberries fight heart disease and obesity. They slow down vision loss, break down belly fat, preserve bone health, relieve constipation, improve memory, reduce the risk of heart attack, induce cancer cell death, lower blood sugar and prevent UTI. As a rich source of antioxidants and vitamins, it can also enhance your mood. So if you want to have a positive vibe during the morning, Blueberries can help you with that.

During my FitLife transformation, I lost 70 pounds! That's why I signed up for the protocol, but the most exciting result is that I found ME in the process. I had been hiding under a pile of pounds, self-doubt, and grief! FitLife changed my life and I knew I had to share it with others.

I started with Fitlife back in 2011-2012…I wrote into Fitlife asking for an extreme amount of help. I was 300 pounds, with high cholesterol, and Drew helped me transform my life. I lost over 130 pounds and I no longer have high cholesterol. Not only did I lose weight, so did my husband, who lost over 70 pounds!
