Eucalyptus is one of my favorite essential oils to turn to when I’m fighting allergies or sinus problems. I like to use it in my diffuser along with a mixture of peppermint and sometimes lemon.

Eucalyptus has numerous health benefits other than just aromatherapy benefits.

Eucalyptus oil has healing properties that can help alleviate the symptoms of many illnesses and conditions. It is a natural antibacterial, antiviral, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and a natural decongestant.

Uses And Benefits Of Eucalyptus Oil

It works as a hand cleaner and a disinfectant. Because of the antibacterial properties found in eucalyptus, it can be used as a natural hand cleaner to remove germs. If someone in your household has the flu or a cold, eucalyptus can also be used as a disinfectant. Simply add a few drops of oil mixed in with water into a pint sized spray bottle. You can now naturally clean countertops, toilet handles and anything that may have the cold or flu virus on it.

Eucalyptus can help wounds. It has an antiseptic property that can be used in helping ulcers, cuts, wounds, sores and abrasions. When eucalyptus is applied to a wound, it not only helps soothe the wound, but also protects it from becoming irritated or developing an infection.

Have a cold or flu? Eucalyptus can help with that too! It works as an expectorant that helps clean your airways by bringing up mucus and other material from your lungs. You can use eucalyptus essential oil in your diffuser while you sleep to take advantage of its benefits all night.

You can create your own chest rub by adding 3-4 drops of eucalyptus essential oil to 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Apply this liberally to your chest and cover with a clean cloth while you rest. The vapors will keep your airways open and moist while antiseptic properties fight against infection.

If you are dealing with postnasal drip from a cold, allergies, or sinus issues, you can create your own natural nasal balm. Place ¼ cup of petroleum jelly in a small sauce pan and warm until it melts completely. Remove it from the heat and add 10 drops each of peppermint, eucalyptus and thyme essential oils. When the balm has reached room temperature, pour it into a jar. Apply a small amount to your nostrils one to three times a day. The jelly will prevent the oils from being absorbed into your skin and allows you to continuously inhale the vapors and aromas of the oils.

Speaking of keeping your airways open, eucalyptus is great for asthma. If you are affected by asthma, keeping eucalyptus essential oil in your home is a good idea. When you start having issues with your asthma, massage 2 or 3 drops of eucalyptus essential oil onto your chest. The soothing aroma and vapors will calm your throat and dilate the blood vessels, which will allow more oxygen to flow into your lungs. Eucalyptus is an anti-inflammatory, so it aids in reducing inflammation, allowing your lungs to get more oxygen.

Brain feeling exhausted? Diffuse eucalyptus essential oil in your oil diffuser or rub a few drops in the palm of your hands and take a few deep breaths with your hands cupped around your nose. Eucalyptus creates a refreshing and cooling sensation and acts as a stimulant that helps you overcome exhaustion and aids in rejuvenating your mind and spirit. Because of this, it can also be used to help alleviate stress. The oil increases blood flow to your brain, allowing your mental activity to increase.

As you can see, using eucalyptus essential oil has many properties that can help aid in health benefits. It’s always a great idea to keep a bottle or two of eucalyptus essential oil on hand!

During my FitLife transformation, I lost 70 pounds! That's why I signed up for the protocol, but the most exciting result is that I found ME in the process. I had been hiding under a pile of pounds, self-doubt, and grief! FitLife changed my life and I knew I had to share it with others.

I started with Fitlife back in 2011-2012…I wrote into Fitlife asking for an extreme amount of help. I was 300 pounds, with high cholesterol, and Drew helped me transform my life. I lost over 130 pounds and I no longer have high cholesterol. Not only did I lose weight, so did my husband, who lost over 70 pounds!
