Besides juicing, I love to drink green tea. In Chinese medicine, tea is recommended to help counteract the damage caused by toxic foods like greasy foods. Researchers at the University of North Carolina studied the effects of tea and heart disease and found that drinking tea can attacking reduce heart attack risk by 11%.

If you search the word “matcha” you’ll find ones like cancer-fighting, fat burning and antioxidant powerhouse associated with it.

Antioxidant Powerhouse

High Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity (ORAC)

Hight Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity (ORAC) is a measurement of antioxidant capabilities. Matcha tea has 1,348 units per gram of ORAC value, which means it’s the highest in the super-food realm. (1)

Matcha tea is high in Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). EGCG has powerful effects against fighting cancer, preventing dementia, preventing diabetes, preventing heart disease and stroke,  and can help with bad breath. For all these reasons there’s no reason why you shouldn’t try match tea. Matcha tea has 137 times more EGCG than other green teas. (1)

L-theanin

L-theanin is an amino acid which helps with stress. Stress is a deadly disease and it often leads to many aliments. A stress free life is possible and has many advantages. L-theanin is found to by involved with the formation of gamma amino butyric acid (GABA) which stimulates dopamine and serotonin levels. Remember dopamine and serotonin levels are associated with being “happy” and low dopamine levels are linked to Parkinson’s disease.

According to the American Journal of Clinical Nutriton, matcha helps with increasing metabolism rate. Higher metabolism equals more fat loss.
