Back To School Tip To Completely Avoid Head Lice
Written by: Kirsten Cowart
With children getting ready to go back to school, there is always that scare that kids will bring home one of the most annoying and dreaded little bugs known as lice. Lice are miserable to have and even more miserable to get rid of.
Prevention is always the best medicine when it comes to issues with our children. There are many different home remedies out there, but this one is by far the simplest. What is awesome about this tip is that it will also help keep mosquitoes away from you and your children.
I’m talking about Tea Tree Oil!
Tea Tree Oil has many wonderful functions, but it can be a life saver when it comes to avoiding head lice. Because tea tree oil can sting a little bit when it is put on the skin directly, it is recommended that you mix it with coconut oil or scentless lotion before using it on your children.
Here are a couple of ways that you can apply it:
1. Add a few small drops to shampoo and wash your child’s hair with it.
2. Get an empty, travel size hair spray bottle and add a few drops of the tea tree oil to water. Spray on the child’s hair after his/her bath or right before he/she goes to school.
Enjoy the confidence of knowing that lice will stay as far away from your children as they can. Share this tip with everyone you know that has kids so that your local schools can remain head lice free this school year.
Extra bonus benefits and uses of tea tree oil in your home!
- Bacterial infections
- Cold sores
- Congestion and respiratory tract infections
- Fungal infections (especially Candida, jock itch, athlete’s foot and toenail fungus)
- Halitosis (bad breath)
- Head lice
- Dry cuticles
- Itchy insect bites, sores and sunburns
- Boils from staph infections
