Are You Eating Healthy but Still Not Losing Weight? – Angela’s Transformation Story*

For over half of my life, I battled with weight issues. As an advanced practice nurse, I knew the importance of maintaining a healthy weight, but while I was symptom-free, I never made it the priority that it should have been.
Like many people, I had tried several different diets and weight-loss programs. I had success with some, but maintenance was always the downfall. Unlike many people, my diet was WAY BETTER than the Standard American Diet, so it was very discouraging to still not have my weight under control.
As I was always searching for information and educating myself on food supply chains – holistic health, organic vs. conventional, plant-based diets, juicing, you name it – I actually had done a good job of weaning myself from fast food and most junk foods. I made juices and smoothies, ate grass-fed, pasture-raised meat and would even go vegan for a month or so at a time.
What I would later learn through FitLife though, was that not everything that is organic is good for you and everything that is all-natural or plant-based won’t necessarily help you lose weight.
Still, I didn’t fully commit to doing whatever it took to get my weight under control until a series of events happened that I felt left me no choice:
- In Jan of 2014, I started a menstrual cycle that would eventually last almost 4 months until I was placed on medication to stop it. The medication that I was prescribed is also used as an appetite stimulant for patients undergoing chemotherapy. During that time, I was seen by 4 doctors and given 3 different diagnoses. The final diagnosis was adenomyosis, a uterine condition that is normally treated with hormones or a hysterectomy.
- I eventually became so anemic from the prolonged menstrual cycle that I couldn’t walk a flight of stairs without being severely winded and I could literally hear my heartbeat when I lay in bed, because my heart was working so hard to circulate the little oxygen that my blood could carry. After nearly passing out at work, I had to receive a blood transfusion and was admitted to the hospital where I work, totally embarrassed and ashamed.
- The week before I was admitted to the hospital, I had celebrated my 40th birthday and being overweight and symptomatic was an unacceptable way for me to start this new decade of my life.
In all of my research on food and holistic health, I had come across several testimonials of people healing themselves from all types of disease states through healthy diets and super nutrition. When I was offered a treatment plan of taking hormones until menopause and surgery, I declined and told my doctor that I was going to get down to a healthy weight and see what would happen before considering any other options. He was skeptical, but I insisted.
I knew that I was short on time, so that is when I turned to FitLife.tv to learn how to juice to lose weight quickly, but in a healthy way. Soon after, I did an Alpha Reset and lost 10 pounds that week.
Two weeks later, I started small group coaching and within 6 weeks, I was off the medication and within 2 months, my menstrual cycle was back to normal after being irregular for 14 months. Before small group coaching, along with being obese, I was experiencing bouts of depression. I had no motivation to do any of the physical activities that used to bring me so much joy, I was tired all of the time and my hunger and cravings were out of control. My life mostly consisted of going to work and coming home to spend the evenings and my days off on the couch.
After only a week or so into the program, my energy quickly improved, my sleep was much more restful, my hunger was in check and my cravings were gone! I started to feel much better about myself and I was able to fall in love with moving my body again. To know me is to know how much I love to dance and, prior to FitLife, I couldn’t remember the last time I had danced around the house or even out with friends.
I had literally gotten my life back, but that was only the beginning! As I pushed past my previous limiting beliefs in order to do the real work of transformation, I started to see my life and the possibilities it contained in a whole new way. I realized that if I could finally be victorious in the hardest battle of my life, one that had consumed me for over 20 years, then there was nothing that I could not achieve.
Just like that, it clicked! I could have better relationships, a better career, anything that I could think of, I could make it happen! I remember thinking that Drew Canole had fooled me into thinking this program was about eating right and juicing when all along, he knew that it was going to change my life completely. I will be forever grateful that he did!
June 2015 marks the one year anniversary of my joining FitLife.tv as a small group coaching client. From Day 1, the program exceeded my expectations and has continued to grow and improve into the powerhouse that is offered now.
Since completing my first juice fast, I have never looked back and I knew that this way of living would be something that I could easily and happily sustain. I still have further to go in my own transformation, but I know that this is the way that will help me reach my goal. I was so inspired by my success and the success of the other members in my group that I became a Certified FitLife.tv Transformation Coach and an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach.
Now, it is my passion and privilege to be able to coach others who desire guidance with their own transformation from someone who has been in their shoes and continues to walk the walk.
If I could say anything to anyone who is reading this who may feel like they are stuck or who have been watching from the sidelines, it would be to please don’t do what I did. For over a year, I watched Drew’s Saturday Strategies, but I didn’t make a commitment until I started to have real health issues. Take action now to prevent or possibly reverse any symptoms of poor nutrition (which is just about everything you can think of).
And ladies, if you are suffering from any type of gynecological issues that may be affected by out-of-balance hormones, then I urge you to try out this lifestyle and see if it will improve your symptoms as well.
Save yourself the lost time with family and loved ones and time lost from living the best life you can possibly live. Lastly, if like I did, you believe you already know what is healthy and the right way to eat, but still have health issues or are overweight, then why not get the proper information and education to move past your obstacles? Take it from someone who had 18 years experience in healthcare and a good amount of personal research under her belt. There is always more to learn.
