Apple Cider Vinegar Could Be The Solution You’ve Been Looking For

As a kid, the season of Fall brought about many exciting things for me – sweaters, new school clothes, pretty-colored leaves, pumpkin anything and, my favorite, apple cider!

When I started hearing people talk about apple cider vinegar and how good it was for you, I got very excited, because I already loved apple cider and figured it would be easy to add this healthy aspect into my life.

Well friends, let’s just say that it tastes more like the vinegar than the apple cider – rookie mistake. Either way, I knew there was an insane amount of benefits in the not-so-sweet treat and I wanted to experience more.

Here are some of my favorite benefits of apple cider vinegar and why YOU should consider adding it to your daily routine!

1. Prevents Indigestion

Add 1 teaspoon of honey and 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar to a glass of warm water and drink it 30 minutes before you dine to help keep your stomach soothed and happy during and after your meal. This helps stimulate HCl, which is your body’s own stomach acid (which so many people don’t produce enough of).

Fun fact: contrary to popular belief, heartburn and acid reflux are actually the body’s signal that it does not have enough HCl (instead of too little, which is a common misconception).

2. Aides In Weight Loss

The acid in apple cider vinegar helps suppress your appetite and increase your metabolism. This little miracle liquid also reduces water retention and may interfere with the body’s digestion of starch, leading to fewer calories in your bloodstream.

3. Increases Energy

The amino acids contained in apple cider vinegar helps fight the lactic acid produced in your body through exercise and stress. This lactic acid can lead to increased fatigue. In addition, the potassium and enzymes in apple cider vinegar may relieve feelings of exhaustion.

4. Whitens Teeth And Freshens Breath

Gargling with apple cider vinegar helps to remove stains, whiten teeth and kill bacteria in your mouth and gums. After gargling, brush as you normally would. Take before and after pictures and watch as your lovely whites become pearly brights!

5. Aides In Heart Health

Vinegar has the potential to lower cholesterol as well as blood pressure by decreasing the damaging form of cholesterol in the body. The absence of this type of cholesterol leads to clearer pathways for blood to pump to the heart.

You’re sold now, right? Until you take your first taste and are put off by it’s bitter taste…

But don’t give up so soon! If the bitterness of apple cider vinegar turns you off, try adding some honey and water to add a little sweetness and dilute the vinegar. I find it easier to enjoy if I add some lemon juice to either ice cold or hot water and a little bit of natural sweetner.
