8 Signs You NEED To Detox

Detoxes and cleanses have become trendy. But there is more to them than being simply being “cool.”

Detoxification is necessary to promote complete health for your body, especially if your diet has been off or your stress levels have been high. Detoxification removes toxins and other harmful substances from your body – it cleanses you from the inside out, leading to better health overall.

Detoxification is not only an essential part of healthy living, but it is also a perfect starting place for developing a new healthy lifestyle.

Here Are 8 Signs You May Need A Detox:

1. Depression

You are what you eat – not only in body, but in mind and soul too. The food you eat affects your body and determines how you feel. Depression can be a sign of toxin build up in your bowels, your liver and your brain

Eating green, fiber-rich foods and cleansing your colon through enemas and colonics can make a huge difference.

2. Insomnia

If you haven’t been sleeping well or are dealing with insomnia, toxin build up may easily be the reason for it. Your liver may be the ultimate culprit.

Liver cleansing and eating a liver-friendly diet full of beets, broccoli, apples, garlic, onions and leafy greens can help you sleep better.

3. Lethargy And Fatigue

Lethargy and fatigue may be coupled with insomnia or depression. Lethargy can be a sign that your body is carrying undigested or incompletely digested food.

Eating less during the day is a good start. Paying attention to your diet and eating whole foods in general is also important.

4. Indigestion

Indigestion can come in various forms – bloating, acid reflux, constipation or diarrhea are the most common.

An intestinal cleanse lasting for 2 – 4 weeks, eating less food, eating lots of leafy greens and fiber-rich vegetables, consuming gut-friendly herbs and taking enzymes and probiotics can lead to lasting change.

5. Stress

When you experience chronic or high stress, it will not only affect your mind and soul, but your body too. Your body can break down from high stress. Stress can also lead to unhealthy behaviors from binge-eating to smoking.

Taking care of your mind and soul should be part of your detox. Take on meditation, yoga and journaling. Practice breathing exercises. No matter how busy your life is, make sure to take 20 minutes of quiet relaxation time every day.

6. Body Odor

Sure, if you just came back from a 20-mile long-run, you will smell a little. But if you just smell all over, all the time, without knowing why, you may need a detox. Bad body odor usually means that your body is full of toxins.

Cleanse your bowels, remove or limit animal products, eat fiber-rich vegetables and take probiotics.

7. Weight Gain

If you have difficult time losing weight and you are, in fact, actually gaining weight, you can likely benefit from a detox. Toxin build up in your body is a common cause of weight gain and it also prevents you from losing it.

Do a liver cleanse to flush out all the toxins. Avoid processed food, focus on cleansing fruits and vegetables. A juice fast can be helpful. Also commit to 30 – 60 minutes of exercise every day, if possible.

8. Mental Fog

It may be a no brainer (no pun intended), but if your body is not functioning properly, your brain won’t either. If you have mental fog, you won’t be able to focus on tasks and won’t be thinking clearly.

Chlorophyll-rich foods (green juices, green smoothies, chlorophyll supplements), spirulina and chlorella will all help you to detox your brain. And please, quit eating processed sugar and other processed foods. Don’t forget about elimination: fiber-rich foods, probiotics, enemas and colonics are all helpful for colon cleansing. Drink plenty of water too.

There are so many approaches to detoxification from juice cleanses to gentle cooked food cleanses that you can try. If you follow a DIY (Do It Yourself) approach to detoxification, start removing processed foods, meat, dairy, soy, alcohol, gluten and caffeine from your diet for 2 – 4 weeks.

  • Focus on plant-based food with lots of leafy greens.
  • Drink green juices and smoothies.
  • You can go full out with a juice-fast or green juice and smoothie cleanse.
  • But you can also keep raw meals, slightly steamed vegetables, homemade warm soup and herbal teas into the mix.
  • The more simple you go, the more cleansing and gentle it will be.
  • Don’t forget your probiotics.

What Our Clients Say*

During my FitLife transformation, I lost 70 pounds! That's why I signed up for the protocol, but the most exciting result is that I found ME in the process. I had been hiding under a pile of pounds, self-doubt, and grief! FitLife changed my life and I knew I had to share it with others.

-Lynne, Longwood FL

I started with Fitlife back in 2011-2012…I wrote into Fitlife asking for an extreme amount of help. I was 300 pounds, with high cholesterol, and Drew helped me transform my life. I lost over 130 pounds and I no longer have high cholesterol. Not only did I lose weight, so did my husband, who lost over 70 pounds!
