8 Detox Water Recipes You Need To Try
Written by: Kavata Kithome
Before we get into the good stuff, let’s for a moment consider why it is important to detox your body.
Your body is very resilient and naturally adjusts and adapts to function at its best. It has the remarkable ability to heal and fight off infections and even remove toxins from the blood (if you didn’t know you were secretly a ninja, don’t doubt this superpower for a moment!).
But, in order to keep your body in tip-top ninja shape, it’s important to help your body eliminate impurities and toxins that you are exposed to on a regular basis.
Detoxing is important and has many healthy benefits for your hard-working body. It’s the process of removing chemicals and toxins from your body and as such, it can help with weight loss, clearing up skin, aiding digestion, increasing energy and improving overall body function.
Here are 8 detox water recipes you can begin trying today to start reaping the benefits of detoxing.
1. Lemon Water
It’s no secret that drinking lemon water provides many health benefits, like improving your immune system and helping with weight loss. A bonus to lemon water is that it helps clear your skin and kill bacteria that causes bad breath. It is an inexpensive and easy way to detox. Simply squeeze a ½ lemon into 8-12 oz of warm water and drink on an empty stomach in the morning.
2. Turmeric Water
Like lemon, turmeric is also a great protection for all ninjas. It’s antiviral and antibacterial and helps your body fight infection. As a bonus, it’s also great for the skin and reduces inflammation throughout the whole body. It’s strong in taste, but its health benefits make it completely worth it. Simply add ½ -1 teaspoon to 16 ounces of water.
Bonus: Fitlife has made their own organic turmeric supplement, which is 4 times more useable by the body due to their critical extraction process. Be sure to check it out!
3. Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) Water
No detox list is complete without ACV. ACV is packed with important amino acids and is great for oral health and so many other things. Simply add 1 tablespoon of ACV to 16 oz of water, warm or cold. Add a little raw honey if you need to counter the distinct flavor.
4. Cayenne Pepper Lemon Water
This is another rock star for fortifying your system and detoxing. Cayenne pepper contains capsaicin, which can burn fat and help with weight loss. Cayenne pepper also can help detox your lungs. Simply add 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper to 16 oz of lemon water.
5. Chlorella Water
Heavy metals like mercury are very toxic to your body. Chlorella removes heavy metals and helps repair and strengthen the growth of body tissue. Just remember that chlorella is very powerful and should be taken in just a small amount. Simply add a teaspoon of chlorella to 16 oz of water.
6. Ginger Water
All ninjas need ginger in their arsenal. Ginger helps with a myriad of ailments from acid reflux to lowering the risks of heart disease. The benefits of drinking ginger cannot be stressed enough. To reap the detoxifying benefits of ginger, simply steep a few slices of fresh ginger in hot water, let cool and then drink.
7. Green Tea
Is it any surprise that green tea made the list? Green tea helps against signs of aging, regulates blood sugar levels and can even improve brain function. Simply brew some green tea leaves, pour and enjoy.
8. Bentonite Clay Water
You may be leery about ingesting clay; it is dirt, afterall. But, despite that fact, this clay actually can help improve digestion and reduce symptoms of allergies by absorbing and removing toxins. Simply add 1 tablespoon of bentonite clay to 16 oz of water, let sit overnight and then drink. *DO NOT mix clay with metals as this deactivates the beneficial properties. Use your finger or plastic instead.
***Note: Because of chemicals used to clean tap water, it is high in toxins. If possible, please use clean filtered or distilled water.
