6 Tips to Help You Survive Allergy Season

You have all waited for those first signs of spring; a few blooms here and there and sprouts starting to grow on the trees. It all brings a smile to your face, warms your soul… and for many, stuffs up your nose!
Not to worry though!
Try some of these tips for natural allergy support to keep you feeling your best and able to stop and smell the roses… without sneezing!
1. 1 teaspoon of Raw, Unfiltered LOCAL Honey Daily
Bees are pollen collectors and they are busy filling their hives with pollen-rich honey. By eating a teaspoon a day, you will introduce those pollens to your body so that your immune system will begin to recognize them and, in time, they will no longer provoke the allergic response! After all, allergies are the body’s response to something foreign.
2. Start Taking A Quality Probiotic Daily
Immunity is housed in the gut and as mentioned above, allergies are the first defense against invaders. By replenishing your gut flora with good bacteria, you can reduce your incidence of allergies.
3. Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV)
This amazing product has SO many benefits, but for allergies, it can assist with breaking up mucus and reduce sinus congestion. It’s easy and it’s inexpensive, so give it a try! Just make sure you’re buying it with the “Mother” included. I like Bragg’s brand.
4. Quercetin, Butterbur, Stinging Nettle
These are all good herbal supplements that may help support your body, reduce your histamine production and help you survive the allergy season! They may be found in capsules, tablets or even tea. Consult your health professional (or health coach) to make sure they are not contraindicated for you.
5. Peppermint Essential Oil
This is an easy one to use as a nasal decongestant! Put a drop of the quality oil on your finger and rub it on the back of your tongue. Instantly, you will feel that warmth and you will begin to breathe easier. The peppermint can also be diffused in the air. Side effects of peppermint oil include having a clearer mind, increasing your alertness and may even help digestion (be sure that your oil is pure enough for ingestion – you want therapeutic grade, most store-bought oils are not).
6. Environmental Hygiene
Change your air filters, dust frequently, vacuum your bed, rugs, carpets and even couch! Check the doors and windows for good seals, as allergens are tiny enough to blow in the air! Wash your towels and sheets regularly, in an environmentally friendly detergent, as allergens get in our hair and on skin.
