5 Ways to Manifest Your Dreams

By Anthony Cocco

This is the time of the year where many of us get excited about the opportunity to start fresh. It is also the time for many, where we become inspired to be a better person and have great ideas as to how we will achieve this. But maybe more importantly, the beginning of a new year is the perfect time to commit to a goal that will bring us that much closer to our dreams.

If you are seeking to accomplish a major dream, goal, or transformation, I highly recommend going after one that you are confident you can achieve. I’m not saying something that’s easy, but something that’s realistic and attainable. Nothing is more frustrating than setting the bar too high and falling short. Make your goal big enough that it stretches you, but not so big that you give up before you begin. Remember, all of our greatest achievements can be found just outside of our comfort zone.

Go ahead and take some time to reflect on your dreams and desires. Make sure that these are indeed yours and not brought forth by someone or something else. Really dig in and discover why you want to accomplish this dream. Once you have it clear in your mind and heart, you are that much more prepared to make magic happen.

1. Set your intention and get started

An intention with purpose comes from the heart and promotes well-being. It is your announcement to the world that you are striving to achieve something wonderful. In so many words, your intention is your commitment. It is a conscious decision that no matter how hard it will get, you have made this a priority in your life.

When you set your intention, you begin to manifest the world around you and you begin to turn your dreams into a reality. And because nobody like to fail, you are committed to exerting energy in the right direction, operating with a sense of gusto and believing that you can complete what you set out to.

Make sure that you write these goals/dreams/desires down and keep them visible. If you have to, put it on a post-it note and place it on your bathroom mirror, the dashboard of your car, on your computer monitor, or any other place that you can see it daily. If you are like me, you may want to have multiple reminders. Also, make sure that you share this with others, preferably those that will encourage and support you in your endeavors. This is critical! It helps you gain confidence and creates a sense of accountability.

2. Develop small achievable goals

Each day is an opportunity to make substantial progress toward accomplishing your goals and dreams.

Working backwards helps define a strategy. It helps you break down your goal into manageable chunks, in order to get it down to small tasks you can implement each day. When you work like this, you create daily momentum, which helps you stay the course. It is very easy to get frustrated, which is why we must have small achievable milestones to celebrate.

If my goal was to write a self-help book, I would break it down like this:

– Pages: 240
– Words: 70,000; somewhat of the industry standard for non-fiction books
– Working days: 260; excluding weekends
– Pages per day: .92
– Words per day: 269

When you have a structure like this, you can benchmark your progress. Some days, you may get more done than others, but at least you will always have a reference point. Having daily goals is a sign of taking complete ownership of your intention and ultimately, helps to move you closer to the end result – success.

So whatever your goals are this year, be sure to make small achievable goals within those big goals and always remember to celebrate each victory…even the small ones! You certainly deserve it!

3. Align your daily agenda and activity

Setting the intention and having a goal is fantastic, but if the dream does not have a place in our daily agenda, it’s much harder to accomplish what you’ve set out to do, resulting in another failed attempt. If the dream is worth fighting for, you need to be willing to make sacrifices. Think about that.

Each one of you reading this can probably agree that I we are different from one another, yet likely, very much the same. With that being said, how you set up your daily agenda and activity is completely up to you and can – and should – be customized to fit into your lifestyle, in an enjoyable and realistic way.

What I know to be true is this: always do the hardest (or least fun) item on your list first thing in the day. This will help create momentum throughout the remaining hours, knowing that you’ve already done the one thing (or things) that you weren’t looking forward to. The good news is that now it’s done, which leaves you the space to do those things which you’re excited about! Set blocks of time for activity, typically in fifteen minute to hour-long increments, to ensure maximum productivity. And stick to it!

4. Create an environment of growth

Let’s say you want to become vegetarian, you probably wouldn’t have meat and cold cuts in the fridge. And if your intention is to live a gluten-free lifestyle, keeping breads, pastries and pastas in your pantry would likely only serve as a serious temptation. Not smart.  And if you’re wanting to change your exercise routine to focus on yoga, joining a CrossFit gym wouldn’t be your best bet. My point here being, in order to be successful in achieving these intentions you’ve set for yourself, you must create an environment for growth that is in direct alignment with your dreams/goals and desires.

When your environment is conducive for growth, your dreams become easier to accomplish because what you need is readily available. Take the necessary time to create your environment and the space required to experience explosive growth and watch the rest unfold in your favor.

5. Expand your inner circle

Support is the biggest contributing factor to success. This is absolutely critical when trying to follow your dreams. Consider this, if you want to be positive, but are surrounded with negative people, what are the chances that we will actually succeed? If you want to become a non-smoker, hanging out in the smoking section would likely be a tough deal for you, right?

When you are involved with self-limiting beliefs, it’s easy to begin settling for a mediocre existence. That is not what you are trying to accomplish though. You are setting out to create an abundant life and it will only happen if you begin to expand your inner circle.

Your inner circle should include cheerleaders and supporters of your dreams. For me, I experienced the most growth and success when I joined a mastermind group, hired a coach and allowed a mentor to speak truth into my life.

I am not saying that you have to eliminate friends, family, etc. What I am suggesting is that you begin to associate with like-minded individuals, who are on the same growth path as you are. By doing so, I can promise you that the year ahead will be that much more enjoyable and prosperous.
