Kids are such wise and interesting little people. Don’t you just love spending time with them?
The true joy of children is they are completely unaware of how inspiring they can be! They don’t intend to be teachers or mentors, but in reality, some of life’s most important lessons we can learn from spending time with a young child.
I don’t have kids yet. But I’ve made a career out of what I think are the most important things for our youth to be learning. I would’ve loved to learn the things we teach on FitLife.tv when I was a kid. You’ll have to let me know how your own little ones feel about our videos. 🙂
I know a lot of you out there are moms and spend the bulk of your time with your own little ones. When you are with a child all day, although there may be incredible challenges, you gain great insight into the pleasures of life.
The purpose of this post is for all of us to take a minute and think about when we should be acting more like our little friends do.
As you and I grow and age, we experience a lot of ups and downs and it can be easy to be thrown off course, lose our perspective and lose our joy.
Many of us fall into patterns of depression and sadness and have a hard time pulling ourselves out.
What do you want? What lights your soul on fire? What are you passionate about?
Kids teach us something magical. They teach us to live, laugh and love and to to truly enjoy our time here in this life.
I’m going to share 5 times in life that it is absolutely okay to act like a child (no matter what age you are)!
I want to encourage you to act like a kid more! And don’t worry about what anybody thinks!
#1 Create Art
Do something that is creative! Let your inner artist shine! Pick up the paintbrush, the instrument, the hammer and nails… whatever it is that helps you get in the zone.
If you’ve seen my videos then you’ll know I’m a total nerd. I have a whole DJ set up in my house. Creating music is something that lights my fire and brings the child-like joy into my life.
#2 Prepare A Meal From Your Childhood
Doing things that we did as a child can help bring feelings of home, safety and innocence.
Pick a meal you enjoyed as a child and make it for yourself. You might have to dig up some of those old recipe cards from your mother!
While you prepare the meal, listen to music from your childhood. Research has shown that listening to music you heard as a kid helps with neurogenesis (the creation of new brain cells!), which in turn helps you stay young.
#3 Take a Bike Ride
Pull your bike out of the garage, pump up the tires and take it for a spin.
Try to see everything as if it’s the first time you’ve ever seen it before. The trees, the mountains, the buildings, the big sky… take a deep breath and let wonder fill your being.
Rediscover the bliss that comes as you fly down a hill with the wind in your hair and the sun on your face.
#4 Play a Board Game
Some of the FitLife team does trivia night regularly and it is SO much fun. Playing games is an awesome way to interact with people in an engaging atmosphere.
Stop being an adult and going to happy hour at the bar. Instead, make some green juice and play monopoly. Or cards. Or charades. Or whatever. You can have an absolute blast as you let go of the need to be “adults” and get lost in a game together. Especially one from your childhood that you LOVED.
#5 Watch An Old Movie
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? When I was a kid I thought those movies were the BEST and I had to see every single one when they came out. If I ever need to unwind, all I need is one of these movies, a green juice and I am good to go.
You CAN and you SHOULD enjoy your life as much as possible.
I think the key to that is embracing your inner child and remembering what it was like to see the world through those eyes.
As you do this…
New opportunities will start to open up to you.
New friendships will come your way.
Your days will brighten.
The world will be full of new colors.
Miracles will happen.
I can’t wait to hear all about it.
If you know someone who needs some light in their life, send them this video. Remind them of their inner child so that they can start to feel that joy again.

During my FitLife transformation, I lost 70 pounds! That's why I signed up for the protocol, but the most exciting result is that I found ME in the process. I had been hiding under a pile of pounds, self-doubt, and grief! FitLife changed my life and I knew I had to share it with others.

I started with Fitlife back in 2011-2012…I wrote into Fitlife asking for an extreme amount of help. I was 300 pounds, with high cholesterol, and Drew helped me transform my life. I lost over 130 pounds and I no longer have high cholesterol. Not only did I lose weight, so did my husband, who lost over 70 pounds!
