Not everyone is a morning person. Perhaps you are one of the many people who do not like to get out of bed until after 9 or 10am, simply because that is when you start feeling your best. That is usually a great idea for the weekends, but during the weekdays you may have more responsibilities such as getting to work or getting the kids up and off to school on time.
Whether you are a morning person or not, having a morning routine can help improve your day and make you a more happier and healthier person.
Here are 5 things you should do every morning:
1. Drink A Glass Of Water
When you first wake up, drink a glass of water. At night, your body can become dehydrated. Drinking a glass of water helps to rehydrate your body as well as rev up your digestive system for the day and also gets everything in your body moving.
2. Don’t Check Your Phone, Email, Or Social Media For About An Hour
Many people like to grab their phones first thing after waking up in the morning and it is not a good habit to have. Try to stay offline and off your phone for about an hour after waking up. You don’t want that one horrible email from your boss of client upsetting you first thing in the morning and ruining your day. Put this habit into practice and you will soon see how much happier you will feel during the day.
3. Get Up And Moving
Take some time to do a quick stretch, yoga, or a small workout. Getting yourself moving first thing in the morning will get your blood flowing. You will feel more alert, more motivated and happier for the rest of the day.
4. Eat A Healthy Breakfast
Eat foods that are healthy for you rather than just reaching for a box of cereal in the morning. Just eating cereal may not leave you completely satisfied and you will just be hungry sooner. Try to eat oatmeal, eggs, or even a healthy smoothie.
5. Plan Your Day
While your mind is fresh, make a list of things that you want or need to accomplish during the day. This can help make your day easier and more manageable.
It is completely understandable if you are not a morning person, many people aren’t and have trouble getting their days started. It takes a lot of discipline to make sure that you are getting up at a decent hour and have a routine, but believe me, having a routine each day will actually make you feel better! Put these tips to the test and see how they work out for you.
