Garlic has been considered a superfood for a few years now, so it comes as no surprise that garlic has body-strengthening effects and serves as a multipurpose plant for optimal health. It’s a great blood detoxifier, helps prevent cancer, helps regulate cholesterol levels and so many other incredible things.

Here are 5 more reasons to absolutely love garlic:

1. Garlic helps improve bone health

Garlic is packed with manganese, zinc, vitamin B6 and vitamin C that aid and facilitate the formation of bones and connective tissue and aid with bone metabolism and calcium absorption. Garlic contains nutrients that are building blocks for healthy, strong bones.

2. Garlic enhances physical performance

For my peeps who like a great sweaty workout, garlic can help increase your endurance while exercising. Garlic has a long history of being used to help reduce fatigue. A 2005 study published in the Indian Journal of Physiology and Pharmacology found that people with heart disease who took garlic for 6 weeks saw a reduction in peak heart rate by 12 percent.

3. Garlic can help fight a common cold

This is definitely a bonus, especially in the winter months when sniffles are always an uninvited visitor. Just a few garlic cloves can help fortify your system and give you a sniffle-free winter.

4. Garlic can strengthen hair growth

Garlic is high in keratin, the protein that the hair is made of, which means it is able to stimulate fortification and growth. For long luxurious hair, take some garlic, either fresh or in supplement form.

5. Garlic helps clear acne

The organic compound found in garlic is called allicin, which has the ability to stop the damaging effects of radicals and kill bacteria. This compound produces a fast reaction with radicals, which makes it great for helping with acne scars, skin disease and allergies. To get clearer skin, its simple – eat more garlic!

Now, this information is all well and good, but you may be asking yourself how to incorporate more garlic into your diet. There is always the tried-and-tested option of using it as a spice, but I love to add mine to my greens as a garnish. Try my recipe below and let me know how it goes!

Homemade Garlic Garnish

Ingredients
  • 3-4 cloves of garlic
  • 1-2 tsp of olive oil
  • 1 green cayenne pepper (for an added kick)
Instructions
  1. Finely chop the cloves of garlic.
  2. Deseed and cut the cayenne pepper.
  3. Mix the garlic and pepper together.
  4. Add olive and mix.

Best when fresh. Simply drizzle over your meats, greens, salads, soups or anything for added flavour and all the additional health benefits.

What Our Clients Say*

During my FitLife transformation, I lost 70 pounds! That's why I signed up for the protocol, but the most exciting result is that I found ME in the process. I had been hiding under a pile of pounds, self-doubt, and grief! FitLife changed my life and I knew I had to share it with others.

-Lynne, Longwood FL

I started with Fitlife back in 2011-2012…I wrote into Fitlife asking for an extreme amount of help. I was 300 pounds, with high cholesterol, and Drew helped me transform my life. I lost over 130 pounds and I no longer have high cholesterol. Not only did I lose weight, so did my husband, who lost over 70 pounds!
