You finally decided to take the plunge and signed up for your first 10K. Now, as you ponder on the reality of the run, all the excitement slowly transforms into feelings of buyer’s remorse.

You then ask yourself, “What have I done? What was I thinking?” Don’t worry, you are not alone and more importantly, you most definitely can kick this 10K’s you-know-what.

Here are 5 tips to turn your outlook from HOLY CRAP to excited and keep it locked there:

1. Plan For Today

Truth be told, if you could run 10 miles today, you would not need two weeks to build up to it. It is important to know that you will build up to it day by day. Focus on your next step and do not look so far down the road. Today is all that matters.

2. Chunk Your Training Into Small Pieces

It can be intimidating to look at those long run numbers. Break it down into small parts. This is a strategy that even professional runners use. If 6 miles feels like too much, then look at it as two 3-mile runs, or three 2-mile runs and suddenly, it can feel more manageable.

3. Remove “Quit” From The Equation

Remember, training for a race is not just about the physical challenge; it is about the ability of sticking with a regimen and seeing it to the end. It is not about attaining perfection in your training, but rather about your adaptability and resilience.

4. Remember The Big WHY

Remind yourself daily why you want to do this. It is about personal achievement and accomplishment. Every day, think, even visualize, how good you will feel when you achieve your goal and what that will mean to you and stay consistent.

5. Keep Perspective

Still have self-doubt? Remember that you are not the first to take on 10K training or pursue this goal. Think of all the people – some with less ability and more limitation than you – who have successfully completed the same level of training. If they can do it, so can you. You got this.lleader_34 (1)

What Our Clients Say*

During my FitLife transformation, I lost 70 pounds! That's why I signed up for the protocol, but the most exciting result is that I found ME in the process. I had been hiding under a pile of pounds, self-doubt, and grief! FitLife changed my life and I knew I had to share it with others.

-Lynne, Longwood FL

I started with Fitlife back in 2011-2012…I wrote into Fitlife asking for an extreme amount of help. I was 300 pounds, with high cholesterol, and Drew helped me transform my life. I lost over 130 pounds and I no longer have high cholesterol. Not only did I lose weight, so did my husband, who lost over 70 pounds!
