5 Juice Recipes to Boost Your Immunity

Not too long ago, I found myself laid up in bed with what felt like the world’s worst flu. You know, the kind where your whole body aches and just inhaling makes your head spin. For two days, I laid around the house taking it easy, but still felt terrible. I drank tea that was supposed to make me feel better to no avail and vitamins didn’t seem to help. And to make matters worse, didn’t have an appetite and just the thought of eating made me more nauseous than I already was.

My immune system was shot and there was nothing to help me fuel my fight against the flu because I couldn’t keep anything down. While my well-intentioned friends had all sorts of over the counter pills that probably would have provided temporary relief from symptoms, I wanted something that was going to help my body fight the virus and truly heal me from within. Enter: my juicer!

Juice and homemade smoothies are great natural energy boosters, which pack a powerful punch in the nutrients department. While green smoothies generally are my preferred way to start the day, because of the numerous vitamins in addition to fiber, which is essential for healthy and smooth digestion, juice is also a great option… especially when your tummy is feeling a little unsettled, or when your body is under attack.Juicing is a great way to get in those extra vitamins to give your immune system the boost it needs to kick whatever it is you are battling.

Fresh pressed juice is best and making it at home is the easiest way to get your hands on the freshest and healthiest ingredients. (And it’s cheaper than buying it elsewhere too, bonus!) There are several awesome things to include in your homemade juice, perfect for kicking whatever ails you straight to the curb!. Some of my favorite ingredients to juice are:

  • Carrots. The beta-carotene gets converted into vitamin A in the body, which regulates the immune system and boosts white blood cell activity (these are the cells that come in and help you fight foreign invaders in the body, like viruses).
  • Citrus Fruit, like Oranges and Grapefruit. Citrus is high in vitamin C, which is an incredible antioxidant that can kick your immune system into gear by increasing antibody production. Kiwi and strawberries are also great sources of vitamin C.
  • Green Goodies. Vegetables such as kale, celery and parsley are excellent additions to juice because they contain high amounts of a long list of nutrients (including magnesium, folate and vitamin B6) that boost immunity. Beet and celery leaves are also great sources of these nutrients.
  • Ginger. This powerful root is considered a natural anti-inflammatory, has a warming effect on the body and is great for nausea. It also naturally flushes the body of toxins.
  • Turmeric. Similar to ginger, turmeric is an excellent anti-inflammatory, great for pain relief and is great for fighting colds and lung infections.
  • Some Other Favorites. Cucumbers, watermelon, apples, beets and pineapple are all incredibly nutritious and delicious additions to any juice.

You can experiment with your own recipes, or try out one of the yummy recipes below to supercharge your immunity. These are best when consumed right after juicing, but may also keep in the refrigerator for up to 2 days, depending on the type of juicer you have.

What Our Clients Say*

During my FitLife transformation, I lost 70 pounds! That's why I signed up for the protocol, but the most exciting result is that I found ME in the process. I had been hiding under a pile of pounds, self-doubt, and grief! FitLife changed my life and I knew I had to share it with others.

-Lynne, Longwood FL

I started with Fitlife back in 2011-2012…I wrote into Fitlife asking for an extreme amount of help. I was 300 pounds, with high cholesterol, and Drew helped me transform my life. I lost over 130 pounds and I no longer have high cholesterol. Not only did I lose weight, so did my husband, who lost over 70 pounds!
