The American Way: pop a pill and hope the pain goes away.
Sometimes, just the pill doesn’t take the pain away and you may opt for a prescription drug.
Did you know that prescription drugs may lead to overdose and possibly liver damage?
Why not go the natural way? Sipping a cup of tea or a simple massage are just a few ways to alleviate pain naturally.
Take a look at these incredible pain relievers (of course, if you are under the care of a doctor, discuss any changes before making them)…
1. Butterbur – Petasin is a powerful compound in the butterbur plant and is considered to be very anti-inflammatory. It’s been shown to help reduce the frequency of migraines when taken for 3-4 months. Dose: 1 capsule 2X day (75mg).
2. Green, black or rooibos teas – All are great choices for anyone dealing with arthritis, fibromyalgia or joint pain. These teas are naturally high in antioxidants, which help beat inflammatory responses in the body.
3. Massage – Massage is best for headaches and anxiety. It’s been shown that people who receive regular massages have less headaches and body aches.
4. Turmeric – This well known spice is great for stomach pain, IBS and depression. The key component is curcumin, which is highly anti-inflammatory. Take up to 600 mg 3X a day.
5. Salmon – Salmon is high in Omega-3s, which help with lubricating those aching joints. It’s also good in relieving headaches as well. In 3.5 ounces you get 1,000 to 2,000 mg of Omega 3s.
Know that pain is a warning signal from your body. So take the time to note how and where your pain originates from, as it could be something more serious.
