These 5 Halloween Recipes Will Make Your Guests Go Crazy
By Kavata Kithome
October is at its end, which means it’s almost HALLOWEEN!
Aside from Valentine’s Day, Halloween is an excuse to over eat on sweet treats, but as the health conscious person that I know you are, you probably want to stick to healthy treats for you and your family. So, this Halloween, trick-or-treat your taste buds to these 5 hauntingly delicious, mom-approved, kid-friendly treats that won’t scare your waistline.
#1: Darky Apples
We all know that an apple a day keeps the doctor away and dark chocolate is rich in antioxidants, so pairing apples with dark chocolate makes a hauntingly heart-healthy, tooth-friendly treat!
Darkly Apples
- 4 apples
- Sticks
- 1 cup dark-chocolate baking chips
- Parchment paper
- Remove the apple stems and insert the sticks into the top of the apples.
- Melt the dark chocolate baking chips in a double boiler (insert a metal bowl into a pot of boiling water).
- When the chocolate has melted, slowly rotate each apple in the chocolate until all sides are covered.
- Place on a tray lined with parchment or wax paper and let cool in the fridge until the chocolate hardens around the apple.
- Enjoy!

#2: Vegetable Skeleton
Getting your kids to eat their vegetables can be difficult, especially around Halloween, so here is a fun way to get your children excited about them. With this snack, you can even get your children to help you arrange them. This is a great way to teach them and get them engaged in eating healthy. For my readers without kids, this is also a great conversation piece for your Halloween party.
Vegetable Skeleton
- Celery sticks
- Baby carrots
- Mushrooms (sliced)
- Cucumbers (cut into rounds)
- Pea pods
- Lettuce leaves
- Pimiento olives
- Red bell pepper
- Veggie dip
- Scoop veggie dip into a small bowl and place at the top of a long platter.
- This is the kid-fun part - begin building the skeleton by arranging the vegetables:
- A celery stick for the neck and legs
- Baby carrots for the arms
- Mushrooms for the hands and hips
- Cucumbers for the spine
- Red pepper slices as the ribs and mouth (only a small piece)
