5 Habits Of People Who Build Extraordinary Relationships In Life And Business
POSTED ON October 24, 2016 BY Drew Canole
Do you feel like your relationships are suffering?
Maybe you have been extremely busy and don’t have a lot of time to invest in the people around you. Or maybe you have the time, but aren’t sure how to make others feel important.
Maybe you are worried that if you’re “too nice” to your employees, they will stop respecting you.
A key to your success in life is your ability to build relationships with other people.
REAL success, the kind that exists on multiple levels, is impossible without building these impactful and meaningful relationships.
I mean, you can be a wealthy jerk… but you will be a lonely wealthy jerk. That doesn’t sound like any fun!
I am going to give you 5 strategies on how you can have love AND money without conflict of interest and without people thinking you are just in it for the new car and fancy house.
Here are 5 tips to WOW in relationships and business…
I’m a business owner and trust me, I know balancing work and relationships can be tough. But I want to teach you how to have success in both because it’s absolutely possible.
#1 Learn As Much As You Can About The People Around You
“Life is not about making yourself feel important… it is about how important you can make others feel.” – Linda Poindexter
Ask questions. Dig deep. Find out what makes people tick. Most people love to talk about themselves and if you give them space to be who they are, you can build lasting relationships.
Bonus: Know everyone’s birthdays! Put them on your calendar and send a little note. It goes a long way.
#2 Speak And Act Consciously
“Everyone has an invisible sign around their neck saying, “Make me feel important.” Never forget this message when working with people.” – Mary Kay Ash
A person is two or three times more likely to trust you when you speak and act in a way that lines up with what is important to that person.
WHAT you say has significantly less influence than HOW you say it. And actions to back up those words have the power to impact your relationships exponentially.
#3 Focus On The One-On-One
“People do business with people who make them feel special.” – Robin Sharma
People won’t remember what you said or what you did, they WILL remember how you made them feel.
When you are talking to someone, whether a friend, a customer, a business partner, be 100% present. People expect you to be busy. They will be pleasantly surprised when you take the time to be fully focused on them. That means PUT DOWN YOUR PHONE. Make eye contact. Engage in the conversation.
#4 Practice Appreciation
“A person who feels appreciated will always do more than what is expected.” – Unknown
People who are appreciated will go above and beyondwhat they would otherwise do. Show appreciation daily, even for the small things.
#5 Be Flexible
“If one does not wish bonds broken, one should make them elastic and thereby strengthen them.” – Ardant Du Picq
Live life with open hands. Life will not go according to plan.
Be flexible and patient with those around you when they run into problems and setbacks. Use them as tools for growth. LEARN from each experience and person in your path. When you allow yourself to open to the world around you, you will begin to see lessons everywhere you turn.
BONUS: Every Relationship Has Value
“When we acknowledge the value in every human life, and witness such, we thrive and succeed and protect one another.” – Fourth Estate
The guy who makes you coffee. The mail man. The women you always see in the elevator. Even if your relationship never progresses past these things, they are still valuable. Say hello. Look them in the eyes. Give them 100% of that minute of your day.
Every relationship has value.
People who build great relationships treat all the relationships that way.
At the end of the day it’s the people that matter.
And remember, we’re in this together.

During my FitLife transformation, I lost 70 pounds! That's why I signed up for the protocol, but the most exciting result is that I found ME in the process. I had been hiding under a pile of pounds, self-doubt, and grief! FitLife changed my life and I knew I had to share it with others.

I started with Fitlife back in 2011-2012…I wrote into Fitlife asking for an extreme amount of help. I was 300 pounds, with high cholesterol, and Drew helped me transform my life. I lost over 130 pounds and I no longer have high cholesterol. Not only did I lose weight, so did my husband, who lost over 70 pounds!
