4 Reasons You Shouldn’t Use Pomegranate Seeds

By Lilla Bessenyei

Or should you?

In our modern society, almost every woman suffers from some kind of hormonal imbalance. Pesticides, plastic bottles, cosmetics and drugs are dangerous sources of xenoestrogens that can disrupt your fragile endocrine system. Thyroid problems and diabetes can also cause these problems.

Fortunately, nature is FULL of medicinal herbs and foods, which can help you to maintain your optimal hormonal balance; one of them is pomegranate.

If you are experiencing the following symptoms, your hormones are probably out of whack:

  • Low libido
  • Weight gain
  • Hot rushes
  • Infertility
  • Mood swings and depression
  • Headaches and migraines
  • Mind fog
  • Breast tenderness
  • Fluid retention
  • Sleeping disorders
  • Acne
  • Constant hunger
  • Digestive problems
  • Chronic fatigue
  • Sleeping disorders
  • Hair loss

Pomegranate was a symbol of fertility and rebirth in many ancient cultures. It contains polyphenols, ellagic acid, tannins and anthocyanins. Actually, the whole plant, from its flower to juice, has wonderful benefits.

Here are some of the top benefits you can reap from pomegranate:

1. Excellent Hormone Balancing Skills

Pomegranate seeds offer the greatest variety of phytoestrogens among all plants. It is also the highest plant source of estrone and its main estrogen compound is 17-alpha-estradiol. 17-alpha-estradiol is  “bio-identical” and it’s the mildest form of all steroidal estrogens.

Even if you have estrogen dominance, you don’t have to be afraid to take pomegranate seed oil, because its main estrogen compound is 100 times weaker than estrogen.

Dr. Ephraim Lanksy, one of the experts on this topic, says: “Estrogen is defined as anything that binds to estrogen receptors. The forms that can bind but not stimulate a strong estrogenic effect are considered anti-estrogenic and prevent stronger (estrogens) from having an effect. This is important for modulating diseases that are provoked by too much estrogen.”

2. Fat Burning Properties

Pomegranate seed is also an extraordinary source of punic acid, which is similar to CLA (Conjugated Linolenic Acid), which has fat-burning and anti-inflammatory properties; in addition, it has antiestrogenic activity.

3. Cancer Prevention And Combat

Pomegranate oil can be beneficial for breast cancer patients. Pomegranate extract and pomegranate seed oil seems to be effective with inhibiting the growth of breast cancer cells. It can also hinder the aromatase enzyme, which converts testosterone to estradiol in fat cells, triggers programmed death of cancer cells and decreases new blood vessel formation in tumors.

Studies show that it can be useful in endometriosis and ovarian cancer as well.

4. Skin Care Benefits

Due to its antioxidant, anti-aging and anti-inflammatory properties, it improves skin’s texture, helps collagen production, strengthens blood vessels, improves circulation and relieves eczema, psoriasis and sunburn.

Tips to include more pomegranate seeds in your diet:

  • Eat more pomegranate – put pomegranate seeds on your fruit or veggie salads.
  • Eat the seeds plain as a snack when you’re consuming pomegranate.
  • Add pomegranate seeds into your smoothies.
  • Use pomegranate seed oil internally: on my bottle they recommend taking 1-3 times, 25 drops daily. It is also advised to take it with fermented pomegranate juice, because they work synergically.
  • Apply pomegranate seed oil on your skin or add it into your natural skin care products.

After knowing all these benefits, no matter if you want a powerful hormone-balancer or just a great natural beauty product, you should try pomegranate out. Let us know about your experiences in the comments below!

During my FitLife transformation, I lost 70 pounds! That's why I signed up for the protocol, but the most exciting result is that I found ME in the process. I had been hiding under a pile of pounds, self-doubt, and grief! FitLife changed my life and I knew I had to share it with others.

-Lynne, Longwood FL

I started with Fitlife back in 2011-2012…I wrote into Fitlife asking for an extreme amount of help. I was 300 pounds, with high cholesterol, and Drew helped me transform my life. I lost over 130 pounds and I no longer have high cholesterol. Not only did I lose weight, so did my husband, who lost over 70 pounds!
