4 Reasons You Shouldn’t Use Pomegranate Seeds

Pomegranate seeds offer the greatest variety of phytoestrogens among all plants. It is also the highest plant source of estrone and its main estrogen compound is 17-alpha-estradiol. 17-alpha-estradiol is  “bio-identical” and it’s the mildest form of all steroidal estrogens.

Even if you have estrogen dominance, you don’t have to be afraid to take pomegranate seed oil, because its main estrogen compound is 100 times weaker than estrogen.

Dr. Ephraim Lanksy, one of the experts on this topic, says: “Estrogen is defined as anything that binds to estrogen receptors. The forms that can bind but not stimulate a strong estrogenic effect are considered anti-estrogenic and prevent stronger (estrogens) from having an effect. This is important for modulating diseases that are provoked by too much estrogen.”

Pomegranate seed is also an extraordinary source of punic acid, which is similar to CLA (Conjugated Linolenic Acid), which has fat-burning and anti-inflammatory properties; in addition, it has antiestrogenic activity.

3. Cancer Prevention And Combat

Pomegranate oil can be beneficial for breast cancer patients. Pomegranate extract and pomegranate seed oil seems to be effective with inhibiting the growth of breast cancer cells. It can also hinder the aromatase enzyme, which converts testosterone to estradiol in fat cells, triggers programmed death of cancer cells and decreases new blood vessel formation in tumors.

Studies show that it can be useful in endometriosis and ovarian cancer as well.

4. Skin Care Benefits

Due to its antioxidant, anti-aging and anti-inflammatory properties, it improves skin’s texture, helps collagen production, strengthens blood vessels, improves circulation and relieves eczema, psoriasis and sunburn.

Tips to include more pomegranate seeds in your diet:

  • Eat more pomegranate – put pomegranate seeds on your fruit or veggie salads.
  • Eat the seeds plain as a snack when you’re consuming pomegranate.
  • Add pomegranate seeds into your smoothies.
  • Use pomegranate seed oil internally: on my bottle they recommend taking 1-3 times, 25 drops daily. It is also advised to take it with fermented pomegranate juice, because they work synergically.  
  • Apply pomegranate seed oil on your skin or add it into your natural skin care products.
