4 Easy Steps To Remove Tartar And Improve Your Teeth

By Lindsay Sibson

I am a picker.

Have a zit? I most likely really want to pop it.

Sunburned peeling skin? Ohhh it’s game ON.

When I was dating a guy a few years ago and noticed he had “stuff” stuck to the back of his teeth, naturally, I was curious and was like  – LET’S GET IT! And considering he was unemployed at the time, he was willing to let me play dentist. How about that for some romance!

Since he hadn’t been to a professional dentist in awhile, he had a decent amount of tartar built up on the backside his of his teeth. As much as I consider myself an expert “picker,” the tartar wouldn’t budge one bit! I even had a dentist’s pick and it still didn’t make a difference. I finally had to admit to defeat.

However, I am not one to easily give up… therefore, I turned to my trusty friend, the internet, to search for a better solution.

And I found one!

Now, I wouldn’t recommend trying this on a romantic partner, persay… but it can come in handy if you need an at home tartar treatment.

Of course your dentist would be your #1 solution in combating tartar. But, this at home remedy can help your smile get some shine on a dime (considering it’s much cheaper)!

4 Easy Steps To Remove Tartar And Improve Your Teeth
  • Dental pick
  • Water
  • Toothbrush
  • Baking Soda (**the most effective tool to get rid of tartar)
  • Hydrogen PeroxideSalt
  • Antiseptic mouthwash
  • Cup
  1. Mix 1 tbsp baking soda + ½ tsp salt in a cup. Wet your brush, dip in the mixture and brush your teeth with it. Spit it out. Repeat this process for 5 minutes.
  2. Mix 1 cup hydrogen peroxide + ½ cup warm water. Swish/rinse your mouth for 1 minute. Finish by rinsing your mouth with ½ cup cold water.
  3. Use the dental pick to scrape and rub the yellow tartar from your teeth. Take extra caution near your gums.
  4. Use antiseptic mouth wash every other day to prevent further tartar build up.

Along with that, here are an extra 6 tips that you can embrace to create a brighter, whiter and healthier smile:

1. Regularly use dental floss (no really… DO IT!).

2. Brush with a soft brush in vertical movements. Make sure to focus on removing debris between teeth.

3. Always brush your tongue to avoid bad breath – or better yet, use a tongue scraper.

4. Eat a diet rich in vitamins and minerals (fresh veggies and fruit) to prevent gum disease.

5. Avoid drinking coffee and sodas, which can stain your enamel.

6. Saliva protects your mouth, so make sure to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water.newuseGIVEURBODY30BANNER

I started with Fitlife back in 2011-2012…I wrote into Fitlife asking for an extreme amount of help. I was 300 pounds, with high cholesterol, and Drew helped me transform my life. I lost over 130 pounds and I no longer have high cholesterol. Not only did I lose weight, so did my husband, who lost over 70 pounds!
