3 Simple Steps To Create Your Perfect Life Vision For 2016

By Lindsay Sibson

If I had to describe 2015 in a few words, it would have to be “flying by the seat of my pants.” I started the year living out of a backpack while wandering around Europe. I ended my year in California after taking a 3-week long cross-country trip with my boyfriend, whom I met in Italy.

Random doesn’t even BEGIN to describe things.

However, one of my TOP visions of 2015 was adventure… and adventuring I did!

It starts by getting clear on WHAT you want. To make 2016 your best year YET, you must create a clear and compelling vision!

If you follow the likes of Jack Canfield or Tony Robbins, a resounding message is to not only create a vision in your head, but to also WRITE it down!

Here’s why…

First, it gives your life purpose. By visualizing, creating and brainstorming exactly WHAT you want your future to be like, you are able to live each day with intention and direction.

By taking the time to map out what you want in key areas of your life, you can have a guide to keep you on track and continuously working towards your life vision.

Better yet, it’s a fast, cheap and completely effective method! Simply grab a pen and paper, sit yourself down in a quiet space… and get to thinking!

Follow these 3 steps to create your perfect life vision for 2016:

1. REFLECT On The Past

  • Key Questions To Ask Yourself:
  • What were you highs?
      • What were your lows?
      • What lessons did you learn?
  • Reflection Activity: Open your calendar, Facebook timeline, or other item where you track events and take memos.
      • Make a list of “Highs & Lows.”
      • Review this list and then create a new list of “Lessons Learned.”
      • Answer these 2 key questions:
        • What I am taking with me into 2016 is…
        • What I am leaving behind in 2015 is…

Taking the time to look back on the past year gives you an opportunity to truly think about the big lessons you learned so that you can carry them with you into the New Year.

2. Take Inventory Of The Present

  • Key Questions To Ask Yourself:
      • How am I doing right now?
  • Inventory Activity: Rate each of the following areas of your life to give yourself a baseline of where you are right NOW. This will help you determine and keep track of where you are growing.
      • Write down these 10 “Areas of Life” on a piece of paper (Note: Create your own categories as you see fit):
        • Family
        • Friendships
        • Love
        • Career
        • Finances
        • Health
        • Spirituality
        • Sex
        • Philanthropy
        • Quality of Life

      • Rate each area on a scale of 1-10.
      • Write a paragraph or two about WHY you chose each particular rating.
      • Tip: Use a timer set to 5-10 minutes for each category and then let your mind open up and the thoughts start to flow. Don’t filter or judge what comes to mind… simply write it down.

Completing this activity will give you an overview, or snapshot, or what your life is like right now. Therefore, you will have a baseline to compare it to next year to see how you have grown and changed throughout the year.

3. Create A Vision For The Future

  • Key Questions To Ask Yourself:
      • What do I want to become?
      • Who do I want to spend time with?
      • What does my career look like? Love? Health? Finances?
      • How do I FEEL?
      • What does my perfect day look like?
  • Vision Activity:
      • Imagine it is December 31, 2016 (or one year from TODAY).
      • Ask yourself:
        • What have I accomplished?
        • How will my life be different?
        • How will I be more free?
        • What is the most exciting thing in my life?
        • How do I feel every day?
        • Who am I showing up as in the world?

      • Set a timer for 10 minutes and WRITE your answers and thoughts to these questions. Don’t edit. Don’t worry about being perfect. Just be YOU and get it out of your head and onto the paper.
      • Read over what you wrote several times until you get a sense for a theme.
      • Condense your whole vision into a 1 sentence theme.
        • Example: “The Year of Adventure and Achievement,” “The Year of Growth,” “The Year of Health and Self-Love.”

Have your theme?

BOOM – you are done! That’s it! You now have your very own perfect life vision for 2016.

Let this theme be the compass that guides you and helps you make decisions throughout the year. It can help you determine what’s in alignment with your life vision… and also what is not.

Now, before you get out of here and start living an epic 2016, remember that this vision is a living, breathing thing – it’s YOU. Therefore, if you change your mind or if what you want changes, make the edits and adjust your life accordingly.

Cheers to the New Year and making 2016 your best year yet!

What Our Clients Say*

During my FitLife transformation, I lost 70 pounds! That's why I signed up for the protocol, but the most exciting result is that I found ME in the process. I had been hiding under a pile of pounds, self-doubt, and grief! FitLife changed my life and I knew I had to share it with others.

-Lynne, Longwood FL

I started with Fitlife back in 2011-2012…I wrote into Fitlife asking for an extreme amount of help. I was 300 pounds, with high cholesterol, and Drew helped me transform my life. I lost over 130 pounds and I no longer have high cholesterol. Not only did I lose weight, so did my husband, who lost over 70 pounds!
