One of the most common complaints I hear from people who are struggling with their health is:

“I just don’t have as much energy as I wish.”

Or,

“I’m tired all the time.”

Or,

“Maybe if I had more energy I would be able to change my lifestyle.”

Low energy is a common problem for a lot of people in modern society! It can also be the one thing that is holding you back from pursuing the life you really want.

Have you ever felt like the answers to your problems would be much easier to solve if you actually had the energy to solve them?

Are you tired of being tired? Tired of waking up every day and wondering why you can’t hop out of bed like some of your friends do?

Do you wish you had more energy so that you could reach your fitness goals, be more active, or at least feel better while you chase your kids around all day?

You’re not alone, my friend.

Today, I have three questions I want you to ask yourself so we can find some clues as to why you suffer from low energy. The answer might not be as complicated as you think!

#1 How Am I Fueling My Body?

What are you eating on a daily basis? It REALLY makes a difference! What you eat is either going to fuel you or weigh you down and make you sluggish.

You eat for energy and to help your body grow, heal and recover. If you’re not feeling energized after you eat, either you are eating energy-sucking foods or your body is unable to absorb the nutrients, because of an unhealthy gut.

Here are the TOP energy-sucking foods:

1. Caffeine – Although it may perk you up for an hour or two, regular caffeine consumption will actually DECREASE your overall energy levels. Caffeine is fine once in awhile, but I would highly recommend weaning off of it if you use it daily for energy.

2. Sugar – This may seem counterintuitive, because yes, your body uses sugar for energy and fuel. However, sugar can become toxic if you eat too much. A balanced blood sugar level is vital for maintaining good energy levels and overall health.

The problem with sugar nowadays is that it is in nearly EVERYTHING you eat! Your body can get all the sugar it needs from whole foods, but most people are consuming the bulk of their sugar from other things like processed foods, sauces, dips, snacks, drinks and other items.

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the average American is consuming around one hundred and fifty-six pounds of sugar every year. YIKES!

We made an entire Saturday Strategy on all of the things sugar is hidden in. Watch it here!

If you are experiencing low energy levels, I would HIGHLY recommend taking a look at the amount of sugar you are eating on a daily basis. Try to fill up the bulk of your diet with whole fruits and vegetables, nuts and seeds, organic meat and healthy fats like coconut and olive oil, avocado, organic butter, fish, etc. Make sauces and dips at home yourself so that you can control the ingredients and avoid processed foods as much as possible.

3. White Flour – Refined carbohydrates are converted to sugar by the body. When you eat a lot of bread products, not only will your system be bloated, but you may experience a significant decrease in energy as your body is overwhelmed with sugar. Most commercial bread products also have a long list of ingredients that you more than likely don’t recognize that could be contributing to low energy or bad health in general.

There are a lot of ways to decrease your intake of white flour and bread products. Stick to PURE, WHOLE grains when you do eat wheat products (Food Babe has a great list of the best bread brands HERE) and try yummy bread alternatives when you can.

#2 How Much Am I Moving?

Your body was made TO MOVE.

You are a complex, beautiful living being that was created to be in motion. Think of your body like a river or an ocean… although you may have times where you are still, for the bulk of the time, you are meant to on the move.

When you stop moving – when you spend most of your days sitting down or being in the same place – your body becomes like a stagnant puddle of water.

Take the time to connect with your own body. I’m not talking about wild runs around the grocery store or folding laundry. I’m talking about time where you can focus on your breathing and the power of each muscle moving at your command. Whether you find this by going on a daily walk, going to the gym and lifting weights, doing yoga, playing tennis… it doesn’t matter. Just move. And move regularly.

This combined with a truly healthy diet is one of the BEST things you can do to feel more energized!

#3 What And Who Am I Surrounding Myself With?

What kinds of vibes are you filling your life with?

Because you are an energetic being, you are affected significantly by the type of energy you surround your life with. This includes the kind of music you listen to, the kinds of things you keep in your home, the colors around you, the types of shows and movies you watch, the types of thoughts you think and the types of people you hang out with.

Meditate on these questions:

Is the music you listen to uplifting or inspiring?

Are the shows you watch emanating the kind of vibe you want in your own life?

Are the people you hang out with positive and encouraging?

Do your friends make you feel alive?

Do your social groups empower you?

Are your thoughts and actions leading you towards the life you want?

Do you often think positive things about yourself and your future?

All of these things affect your energy!

You could be living on only organic whole foods and green juice and working out every day, but still feel like a slug if you are surrounded by negative vibes. Take a serious look at what you are surrounded by on a daily basis and be willing to make some changes if things aren’t as they should be.

Don’t be afraid to let go of or spend less time with people who are not helping you live a happy, purpose-filled life. Learn to streamline your thoughts and stop thinking in negative circles. Keep the media in your life as positive and uplifting as possible.

Conclusion

I don’t want you to be tired all the time. And I believe strongly that you can live a life filled with energy, motivation and positive vibes!

Not every day will be perfect, but I promise that as you commit to taking small steps in the right direction, you will start to feel better. It may not happen overnight and some of it may be hard work at first, but you are worth it.

Imagine yourself a year from now waking up with more energy and more light in your eyes. Hold onto that image of yourself where you want to be. Think about it every single day and every moment that you are faced with a choice that will either bring you closer to that vision or pull you farther away.

Then one day, you will wake up, look in the mirror and realize that you ARE already that person!

What Our Clients Say*

During my FitLife transformation, I lost 70 pounds! That's why I signed up for the protocol, but the most exciting result is that I found ME in the process. I had been hiding under a pile of pounds, self-doubt, and grief! FitLife changed my life and I knew I had to share it with others.

-Lynne, Longwood FL

I started with Fitlife back in 2011-2012…I wrote into Fitlife asking for an extreme amount of help. I was 300 pounds, with high cholesterol, and Drew helped me transform my life. I lost over 130 pounds and I no longer have high cholesterol. Not only did I lose weight, so did my husband, who lost over 70 pounds!
