Today I want to talk about something that may be a little controversial: three fruits that actually ACCELERATE the aging process! I’m going to tell you about them here and also teach you how to prepare one of my absolute, all-time favorite treats.
If you like frozen yogurt, ice cream, sweet cold treats and chocolate that may or may not have too much sugar… you’re going to love this. It’s going to help satisfy your cravings while also giving you antioxidants, antivirals, tons of vitamins and minerals and MORE.
This treat, I call it “The Magic Shell,” is my secret weapon for kids (and adults) who are addicted to sugar, because it is so delicious that you won’t miss the “real (fake)” thing! It also only has a few simple ingredients and is super easy to make.

What are the 3 biggest fruit culprits of accelerated aging?
Nooooooooo!!!!! I know. I thought the SAME thing!
The problem with these three delicious fruits is that they are high in FRUCTOSE. Fructose, in case you’re unaware, is a form of glucose. Glucose is sugar. And sugar speeds up the aging process like nothing else!
Remember, sugar is sugar is sugar. Moderation, yes, even of FRUIT is beneficial IF you want to keep your blood sugar balanced and prevent crashing, aging too quickly and a myriad of other things.
According to a recent study, sugar can speed up the aging process as much as SMOKING. Smoking and sugar both have a negative effect on the length of our telomeres, which you can read more about here. Basically, just like how smoking can take years off a life, sugar can significantly shorten your longevity.
Total bummer. I get it!
But studies have found that drinking a 20-ounce sugary soda every day is linked to 4.6 years of additional aging. Crazy! Really, the moment a large load of sugar enters your body, it has a toxic effect on your metabolism. Wah wahhhh…
So how much sugar is in these three high-sugar fruits? Let’s take a look:
Banana: 14 grams per 1 medium banana.
Watermelon: 17 grams per 1 serving (2 cups).
Pineapple: 16 grams per 1 cup.
These fruits don’t contain as much sugar as soda (unless you eat a whole pineapple!), but they do contain enough to impact blood sugar levels and metabolism if you are eating them regularly.
Why does sugar have such a dramatic impact on aging? Sugar mixes with amino acids in the body and causes inflammation. Inflammation, when left unchecked, causes cellular death. The more often this process happens, the more quickly you will age. Vicious cycle, isn’t it?
Anti-Aging Sugar Hack!
Fruits have a lot of incredible benefits. They contain numerous vitamins, minerals and micronutrients. But because they contain a lot of sugar, if you eat too much it can make you fat and age faster. I’m sure those are both things you are trying to avoid!
How do we bypass the negative effects of sugar if we decide to eat fruit? I LOVE myself some watermelon in the hot summer months! And who doesn’t like a good pina colada every now and then?
The good news is… we can HACK THIS PROCESS. And to hack the process, we are going to create this amazing magical recipe that I’ve been telling you about! Our secret ingredient? PROTEIN.
1 cup frozen fruit (pineapple, strawberries, blueberries, etc.)
Melt the coconut oil in a small pan over medium-low heat.
Add the Complete Protein and stir to combine
Take your frozen pieces of fruit and dip/roll them in the protein powder mixture. Similar to chocolate fondu!
Lay the dipped fruit on a plate and when you’re finished dipping all of them, stick them back in the freezer.
This stuff is better than Fro-Yo and that ice cream parlor you go to every Friday!
