3 Fat Burning Salad Dressings (Vegan-Friendly)
By Sammi McLeod
When you think of salads, you probably think you’re eating healthy, right? But sometimes they get boring and you get the urge to load them with fatty, rich dressings and toppings, totally defeating the purpose of your “healthy” meal.
Here are 3 dressing recipes to spice up your salads AND promote fat burning in the body. All of them are loaded with healthy, antioxidant-rich ingredients that satisfy your palate and your waistline! First, lets talk about these plant-based fat fighting ingredients…
These power fruits are known to have the most antioxidants and nutrients that promote overall health. The antioxidants help you to release toxins stored in unwanted fat cells. They also have amazing healing properties for the cardiovascular system and can help lower blood pressure and bad cholesterol. The polyphenols in pomegranates can help boost your metabolism, which will send your body into fat burning mode!
Vitamin C and phytonutrient rich, tomatoes are a great food to incorporate into your diet to help you burn fat. They are also loaded with lycopene, which add tons of antioxidants to promote overall health.
Raw Organic Apple Cider Vinegar
It is all the rage and for good reason! Raw organic apple cider vinegar is a superstar for a healthy digestive system. It will help break down foods so that your body can properly absorb the nutrients. Improved digestion = improved weight loss!
Citrus sweet grapefruit is loaded with vitamin C and the antioxidant, naringenin. Vitamin C allows the body to burn fat, while naringenin helps balance blood sugar and insulin levels.
Ginger is healthy for so many reasons, one of them being an awesome weight loss and fat burning aid. It helps burn fat cells, not water weight. Ginger also helps with digestion, nutrient absorption and metabolizing glucose levels.
Another power root, turmeric is an anti-inflammatory that promotes healing for so many issues. It also helps to detoxify the liver and block future fat to be stored by the body.
This healthy fat helps balance blood sugar levels and assists the body in a slower release of sugars into the bloodstream. When your blood sugar levels are balanced, for longer periods of time, less insulin is released. This means the body doesn’t feel the need to go into fat storing mode to hold on to the energy the sugars provide. All good things!
Many people think lemons are acidic, but what matters is whether or not they are acid forming in the body. Lemons are actually alkaline forming in the body, which promotes health and weight loss in so many ways. They are also antibacterial, filled with Vitamin C and aid with digestion as well as helping to detoxify the liver.
Spice up your dressing with some cayenne pepper, which can help with lipid oxidation. That means you are literally burning fat cells to use as energy! How awesome is that?!
Now for some mouth-watering, waist-whittling, guilt-free recipes for you to enjoy!
