13 Inspiring Quotes To Invigorate Your Day

One thing you should know about me – I’m addicted to quotes. And it’s arguably the most beneficial “addiction” out there, because quotes have an uncanny ability to inspire and enlighten.
Here are some of my favorites to brighten up your day. Share and enjoy, friends.
1. “Every little thing is gonna be alright.” – Bob Marley
To start off, whatever troubles you are dealing with at this current moment, find some relief in the healing power of time. Too often, we get thrown off course by the various stressors of day-to-day life, but for the most part, these difficulties will soon pass.
This reassurance comes from profound musician Bob Marley, whose music and visionary perspective on life has inspired people all over the world.
2. “Human Beings are made of water. We were not designed to hold ourselves together. Rather run freely, like oceans, like rivers.” – Beau Taplin
There is so much pressure to have everything together always, or at least to appear to have everything together – emotional health, relationships, financial status, etc. But life is a learning process, a period of continuous adaptation and self-discovery.
If you plant your feet in some illusion of firm, unwavering identity, it will be harder to roll with the punches and easier to fall down. Instead, accept the fluidity of life – we are, after all, made mostly of water.
3. “The Earth has music for those who listen.” – Shakespeare
Shakespeare was a smart fellow. He came up with this quote way before society was inundated with iPhones and tablets and traffic. Today, so many things compete for your attention. It’s important to take time to ground yourself in real reality.
Realize the magic that is our world and focus on the beauty of life. Reflect on your loving relationships, the wonders of nature or a good book, for example. Most importantly, take time to ignore the noise of everyday life and refocus it on the music of our existence.
4. “The ones who are crazy enough to think they can change the world are the ones who do.” – Steve Jobs
Steve Jobs should know about changing the world. There’s a new movie documenting his life coming out every weekend, after all. Mindset is critical to accomplishing goals.
If you don’t think you can, you can’t. If you think you can, no matter how unlikely people tell you the mission is, you at least have a shot. Take it. Be “crazy.”
5. “If your nerve deny you, go above your nerve.” – Emily Dickinson, Cheryl Strayed
Em Dickinson gets it. This quote embodies the truth that life gets hard and we rightfully get scared. But when the things we’re afraid of – i.e. switching careers, traveling to a foreign country, or telling someone you love him/her – could lead to incredible outcomes, it’s worth rising above your nerve.
This quote was also adopted by Cheryl Strayed, author of the memoir Wild and solo hiker of 1,100 turbulent miles on the Pacific Coast Trail. Two badass women, one inspiring quote.
6. “Wake up and live.” – Bob Marley
Another solid philosophy from B. Marls. Approach each day with the energy it deserves. While you were sleeping, the Earth rotated its gigantic mass of 5.97237×1024 kg so that the sun, which has a mass 333,000 × Earth’s mass, could greet you when you woke up.
That’s a big deal. Don’t ignore the incredible opportunities this new day has granted you. All you had to do was wake up. Now, live.
7. “I’d rather regret the things I have done than the things that I haven’t.” – Lucille Ball
It’s hardest to swallow regret when you don’t even know what the alternative tastes like. If you sincerely want something and it means a lot to you, go after it. Otherwise, you will never know what could have been.
8. “The best stories are written with your feet.” – Sperry Shoe Company
Okay, so this one was written to sell shoes. Nonetheless, it provides an inspiring message to get out there and take action. Hike, run, travel, just move. Go write some stories with your feet. You never know where they will take you or who you will meet along the journey.
9. “Fac, si facis.” – Latin phrase
This phrase translates to “Do it, if you’re going to do it.” Stop putting off the things you wish you could do. Imagine if you had started on that novel or embarked on that body transformation journey months ago. Think where you would be now!
So, start today – fac, si facis. And months from now, you will be much, much more closer to your goal.
10. “…if he fails, at least he fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat.” – Theodore Roosevelt
This insightful quote is an excerpt from a speech called “Citizenship In A Republic” delivered by 26th U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt in Paris in 1910. One hundred and five years later and this timeless quote about courage still rings true.
The full “Man in the Arena” excerpt suggests that someone who strives for a worthwhile cause, even if he or she fails, leads a much more fulfilled life than those who refuse to try. Not pursuing a worthy objective will make you “cold and timid.” Instead, dare greatly.
… Plus, Miley Cyrus has part of this quote tattooed on her forearm, so you know it’s legit (okay, maybe not… but I love it!).
11. “Have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become.” – Steve Jobs
Another keeper from the revolutionary Steve Jobs. Do you feel gut instincts kick in every time you think about something specific? Don’t ignore them!
The human spirit is bigger than we know and if you’re feeling strongly about one thing or another, it could be an indication of what you’re meant to do. Listen to it. And if the time is right, have the “courage to follow your heart and intuition.”
12. “Keep your feet on the ground but your head in the clouds.” – Tori Kelly
A lyric from one of my favorite current singers, Tori Kelly. Make sure you are realistic and practical about important issues, but never stop dreaming. Whatever your dream may be, keep imagining it and take the necessary steps to make it a reality.
13. “There’s a lot of beauty in ordinary things. Isn’t that kind of the point?” – Michael Scott
We will of course finish with some sage words from “The Office’s” Michael Scott. He occasionally had some wisdom to throw down and he certainly did here with this simple yet profound observation.
In our current society, “beauty” is often made to seem like something impossible to achieve. Mostly, that’s because cosmetics companies want to sell you mascara and raspberry-flavored lip-liner.
But beauty is everywhere. It’s just waiting for you to notice it. Beauty exists in the rising moon; it is visible when a person holds the door open for a stranger; it’s written into the lyrics of your favorite song. Michael Scott really nailed this one (that’s what she said).
