Did you know that chronic stress, anger, depression and low-vibes in general can actually DECREASE life expectancy and hinder your body’s natural healing process?
One of the surest ways to help your body thrive through life’s ups and downs is to utilize its built in drug system – the central nervous system and ENDORPHINS!
Many people turn to food, binge eating, drugs, alcohol and/or other addictive substances to cope with life’s stresses, which although may help to numb out emotions actually work against the body in the long run.
What you should be doing is working WITH your own body and creating a lifestyle that is guaranteed to send your endorphin levels through the roof!
Today I want to teach you how to help your body produce MORE of this natural drug so that you can live life on top of your game!
Enhance relationships and bonding (coupled with oxytocin)
Are 18-500 times more powerful than any man-made painkiller!
I know some of you struggle with feeling “good” on a daily basis and get discouraged with reaching your health and fitness goals. Sometimes when we are down in the dumps it is easy to throw in the towel and reach for foods or other substances that help us numb out or at least feel better for a short time.
Today I want to give you some alternative tools you can use to harness your body’s natural “drug” system so that when you are having a low day you can have something to pull you up that will have great benefits long term.
Are you ready?
13 Ways To Naturally Boost Endorphins
#1 Prolonged, Continuous Exercise
Movement is one of the quickest and most powerful ways to boost your endorphins!
Get outside and MOVE YOUR BODY. Get that blood flowing on a daily basis and watch how your life starts to change. Studies have shown that continuous exercise like running (runner’s high, anyone?), cycling, skiing, swimming and aerobics produces the most endorphins out of all the different kinds of exercises. However, ANY form of movement will give you a flood of happiness-boosting endorphins so find what works for you and do it daily!
#2 Physical Contact
As human beings we tend to want physical comfort when we are hurting. Hugs, an arm around our shoulders, a hand to hold… all of these things help the body produce more endorphins. You don’t have to be “huggy” or “touchy feely”, but get a good hug from a friend or loved one when you’re feeling down instead of turning to things like food and alcohol.
Endorphins are able to help us “numb” areas of pain that stem from emotions or physical discomforts in the body. Being close to someone you trust can significantly improve mood and soothe hurts from a long challenging day.
#3 Making Love
Here’s a big one. Did you know that endorphin production can increase 200% during intimate activity?
It’s thanks to endorphins that we get that blissed-out, high feeling during and after sex.
In a 10-year study involving 3500 people, Dr. David Weeks, a neuropsychologist found that men and women who have sex four to five times a week look more than 10 years younger than the average person, who has sex twice a week.
10 years is a pretty significant difference!
However, he found that indulging in promiscuous sex did not have the same benefits of enjoying loving sex in a long-term relationship and it was more likely to promote the aging process rather than reduce it.
I’m sure you were probably expecting this one! Chocolate is one of the most popular endorphin-producing foods on earth. It is known by the Greeks as “food of the Gods”.
Chocolate actually mimics marijuana’s soothing effects on the brain. I would highly recommend going for dark, real chocolate as it contains the most benefits. Watch out for popular chocolate brands that contain a lot of “stuff” besides actual chocolate.
A piece of chocolate a day keeps the mood swings away… or something like that. I’m probably preaching to the choir here!
#5 Chili Peppers
The natural spiciness of peppers increase the body’s production of endorphins. That’s why some people get hooked on spicey foods!
Chili peppers also help to boost immune system and can literally burn infections and virusesright out of your system. Have a low tolerance for spiciness? Add a little cayenne to your morning lemon water. You will barely notice it’s there!
Ginseng has been shown to balance the release of stress hormones and boost the production of endorphins.
Another great thing about ginseng? It is said to help delay fatigue. Throw a bit in your next juice recipe and tell me if it works!
Scientists have found that regular meditation can help the body produce endorphins. Those of you who meditate regularly can attest to the calm feeling of “oneness” and release that comes after a good session.
A form of meditation and movement that is becoming popular, Qigong, is also an excellent way to stimulate endorphin production.
This one isn’t surprising. Real, true laugher shoots endorphin levels through the roof. Humor is so important, my friend. Don’t take yourself too seriously. Laugh at the little mistakes in life, enjoy a good joke, spend time with people who make you chuckle, watch a funny movie with some friends and be sure you are laughing every day!
Acupuncture is an ancient chinese practice where a skilled professional uses small needles to balance and move energy – or “chi” – throughout the body. Research has shown the acupuncture can help to increase endorphin production as well as strengthen the immune system.
#9 Massage Therapy
Massage is a powerful tool for finding and releasing areas of stress in the body and has been shown to increase endorphin production.
Chiropractics is another healing modality that has been shown to help with healing and endorphin production.
There are more reasons than one that so many people love spending time in the pool, the hot tub or the ocean. The medicinal use of water increases blood circulation, boosts the immune system and increases the body’s production of endorphins.
According to Reader’s Digest, aromas like vanilla and lavender have been shown to lift one’s mood by boosting endorphin levels.
A study done at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center took patients undergoing MRIs and measured their anxiety levels while either scenting the air with vanilla or leaving it as normal. Those doing an MRI while smelling the vanilla reported 63% less anxiety than those who weren’t privy to the vanilla smell.
Music has always been a healing art for me. If you’ve watched many of my videos you’ve probably seen me bust out my full DJ set. Good music makes us feel good. It is the language of the universe.

During my FitLife transformation, I lost 70 pounds! That's why I signed up for the protocol, but the most exciting result is that I found ME in the process. I had been hiding under a pile of pounds, self-doubt, and grief! FitLife changed my life and I knew I had to share it with others.

I started with Fitlife back in 2011-2012…I wrote into Fitlife asking for an extreme amount of help. I was 300 pounds, with high cholesterol, and Drew helped me transform my life. I lost over 130 pounds and I no longer have high cholesterol. Not only did I lose weight, so did my husband, who lost over 70 pounds!
