This body type tends to hold extra weight in their torso. Their chest and waist measures about the same, with hips that are smaller.

Exercises for this body type: A variety of both cardio workouts and strength training workouts are key to reducing fat and toning this body type. Each week strive for an even mix between brisk walking or jogging and weight training.

Pear Body Type

A pear body type tends to hold extra weight in their lower body; thighs, butt, hips, etc. Their hips tend to have the largest circumference on their body.

Exercises for this body type: This body type will want to focus a little more on intense lower body workouts like biking, running and hiking. Upper body strength training is also important.

Rectangle/Straight Body Type

People with this body type tend to feel “boxy”. They have similar measurements for their hips, chest and waist. Although they are generally slender, they wish they had more curves.

Exercises for this body type: The best exercises for this body type should be centered around weight training and building muscle.You want to tone up those shoulders, strengthen the legs, keep the abs nice and tight and build some shape with muscle.

Hourglass Body Type

The hourglass body types are very shapely. They tend to gain weight evenly throughout their body. Although this is a very desired figure, hourglass shaped women do often struggle with weight loss. But the more they understand their body type the easier it is!

Exercises for this body type: Full body workouts should be the focus for women with this body type. Weight is generally spread out evenly throughout your body, so workouts that target the entire body are best. You may also choose to focus on 1 or 2 areas each day, being sure to hit everything at least once weekly.
